Daydreams & Dandelions

We had our schools annual talent assembly this year it was called "Daydream &Dandelions" Both Preston and Shaylee wanted to draw a picture to enter. They both did a great job. I'll have to take a picture when we get them back. But, they did have an assembly to give out awards to the winners. Shaylee was so excited she took 3rd place in drawing, she got a medal and a treat.

Scout Banquet!!

Blue & Gold Banquet
February 22nd
Preston has been in Cubs for about 2 months now. I work quiet a bit with the cub scout program in my calling as 2nd counselor in the Primary. I'm just now getting around to posting some pictures. This last pack meeting was the big blue and gold banquet. Preston earned his Bobcat, and well as a arts belt loop and nutrition belt loop. He was so excited. For the blue and gold banquet every year the boys are supposed to bake a cake with there dad to bring to the meeting, they used to auction them off, but now they just let everyone eat them. We are pretty new to the scouting program, and I was unaware of how much effort should go into this cake that my boys were to do. This was Dean's 1st time at ever making a cake, and Preston was about as great as dad in the kitchen. Well we soon found out, you go all out with your cake, we just did a little "Y" to decorate our cake. It tasted really, really, good. But we defiantly lacked in the decor part of it. They had a molly's nipple cake, a baseball stadium cake, many baseball cakes, a hamburger cake, a monster truck cake, and many more. We still had fun, and learned for next years...what was expected of us. We all had a great time though, and Preston is really loving cub scouts, and the boys in his den.

Happy Valentines Day!!

We had ourselves a great valentines day and really felt the love. We woke up and had ourselves some heart shaped waffles, and got all ready for our big "Manner's Tea/ Valentines Day Parties." (You had to dress up in Sunday best for this activity.) The kids then received a little love gift from their mom and dad. Of course we did our annual heart attack. Starting February 1st I would find stuff throughout the day the kids did that I appreciated or liked and wrote a little note to them, and at night I would stick it on their doors. They love this, and love to read them every day.

One day while Dean and Preston were out golfing...the girls and I made Valentines shirts. Really cheap, and simple, the girls each made there own and had so much fun doing it. Shaylee had to wear a dress to school, so as soon as she got home she through on her shirt. She was so proud of herself.
We then received some love from both our grandparents. Thank you so much for the cards, coloring books, and treats. You always spoil us. We love you all!!!
Later that night we had a surprise candlelight dinner as a family. We knew all the restaurants would be packed so we decided to dine in. Dean did dinner so I wouldn't have to for Valentines day and while they were gone I put together the candlelight table. The kids were so surprised when they walked in the house...it was a lot of fun to do and eat off our best china. Later after the kids went to bed, me and the hubby stayed up and watched a movie, and had ourselves a little frozen hot chocolate. We had a fun valentines day. Probably our favorite by far.

Oh, one of the gifts for my hubby. The kids and I made some Chocolate Covered Strawberries while Dean was at work the night before...they are all one of our favorites.

Tomorrow...

We were setting at the dinner table the other night, and I let Addison now her birthday was tomorrow. She replied no it is not mom, it's Wednesday. Which Preston replied yea, which is tomorrow Addy. She then held up her little figures and started yelling the day's of the week. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday... she then did it again, which were all looking at each other, because she is getting very frustrated, and she yells out " see there is no tomorrow in the days of the week". We all got a laugh out of that one. Preston couldn't stop laughing. Isn't it funny how kids think. No wonder she was confused. There is no tomorrow in the day's of the week. We love you miss Addison and all the funny things you do to make us smile and laugh each day. couldn't help post this picture...it pretty much sums up my little Addy.

Student Of The Month!!!

January student of the month
"Citizenship"
They usually send out letters in the mail to parents who's kids get student of the month for that month so they can come to the assembly. Well apparently they have our old address on file for Preston so his letter got sent home from school. He was excited to give it to me, and kept asking if I got the letter and if everything was okay. I think he knew what was in it after he saw Shaylee get student of the month, and a letter was sent home for her. Anyway, it got a little annoying, how many times he asked me, if he had given me the letter...he of course wanted me to expand on the "YES" part, but I didn't. So the next morning I heard him start to ask Dean, if I had said anything to him about his letter. So I had enough..I said "Preston, some letter's that come home are bad letter's about the student, and they want the parents to know what's going on. So stop asking, and we will talk about the letter later. (Horrible parent I Know). But I wanted it to be a little surprise, and he's so darn smart, I knew, he knew. So I think my little remark through him off tell he saw us all setting in the assembly. Of course we could not get one smile out of him. This was a pretty scary thing going up in front of the whole school...so he had to play it cool. He got his award in Citizenship. Which means he is a great all around student, very polite, nice to everyone, stays on task, and so on. We are so proud of you Preston, you amaze me. You are such a hard worker. You try your best at everything. You hate to fail, and so you just keep practicing. We love you, and are so proud of you.

Missing

2 Front teeth
(plus a bottom one.)
The tooth fairy has been making a regular stop at my house the last little while. We found out Shaylee not only had one loose tooth, but several. She lost her first one a a little while ago, and on Saturday she had dad pull out not one, but 2 more. So the tooth fairy had to come take away two teeth in one night from Miss Shaylee Monson. She is a little different from her mother, in that she likes having her teeth pulled out. She enjoys the feeling of it. I started crying before my dad even put his hand in my mouth. I know, I know. We are still trying to figure out how to eat things without making such a mess around the face, it is pretty cute though to watch, and I know she'll get it down soon.

Reports!!!

Dancing
January 26th
Addison's preschool likes the kids to each do a report about something they are interested in or even like to do. She likes the kids to get in front of there peers and teach them. So Addison came home with her paper saying it was her turn to do a report. She new right off what she wanted to do it on. DANCING. We really had a lot of fun going back through some of her dance pictures to find some that would work. We then decided what she needed to talk about. She told me she could teach them a dance...well I didn't know about that, but we settled on her teaching them the 5 basic positions of ballet. She wore her little dance outfit, and brought all her costumes she has wore to different recitals. She did a great job. She told them how long she has been dancing, all the different kinds of dance she has done, her favorite kind of dancing, and a little about the recitals. She then taught them there 5 positions. So cute, even the boys got up and got into it. At that age it's still cool. She did a great job, and I only had to ask her a few questions to get her talking.
