Preston's 6th Science Project

Preston had a big science project due for his Science class.  They told the kids if they were doing it for their class they might as well enter it in the science fair.  Preston got busy deciding what he wanted to do.  He of course came up with a sports one.  He decided to check to see if a basketball went in the hoop more times with a backspin then without.  It was such a trial to get him to do this…(I say this with sarcasm).  He is outside more often then not and enjoys basketball a lot.  We recruited some people to help us come up with our statistics and went to work.  We had to shot 40 shots 20 with backspin, and 20 without.  He had a lot of fun putting this all together, and was really excited to turn it in.  He is such a hard worker, and finishes all his projects all by himself.  I rarely have to help Preston with anything.  He comes straight home and does all his work then goes off and plays.  He's a great son.

Basketball season has begun.

The kids all started Basketball these last couple weeks.  The girls are both on the same team, because its 3-4th graders.  Preston is on the 5-6th grade team.  The girls have done great…they are definitely good at defense, they stick to the girls like glue.  They both have scored a few baskets as well.  The look good out there.  Preston loves basketball, and he's good at it.  He is loving his team so far, and has scored plenty the first couple of games.  Dean is helping assistant coach Preston's and I think they are enjoying being together.

Soccer season Finally comes to an end!!

Yay, Soccer season is Finally over.  Preston played up until Nov, 21st.  Addison and Shaylee were both done Oct 31st.  Addison had a great season and has really loved playing soccer.  She loved being with friends on her team this year, and is a great Defensive player.  She also likes to play forward, and scored a few goals this season to lead the team to a winning season.  3-4th grade rec soccer.

Shaylee moved up to club soccer this year.  She was finally old enough.  Dean was their coach, and I helped were I could.  We had a great team this year, and so many good girls.  We only lost 1 game, and tied 2.  We won the rest.  We ended the season 3rd.  Which we will take in a heart beat.  Club is tough, and Hurricane really struggles getting enough girls to even play, but we were lucky enough to have to many, and having a lot of good girls.  The girls love Coach Dean, and Dean enjoyed them, he just wished he had some extra help.  We couldn't get anyone else to step in as assistant coach or to help out at practice, but hopefully by next spring that will change.  Shaylee had an awesome season, and is a natural as a forward, or mid position.  She was one of the top scorers on our team this year, and we loved watching her.

Preston's team had a tough year this year.  Losing some key players, and coach, and then another coach, but overall the boys never gave up and even though they were working with new players and coaches he played amazing.  He has been defender the last couple years, and is amazing there.  He also scored a few goals this year, when he got to move up to midfield a few times.  He loves all sports, and so we will have to see what he ends up sticking with.  We had a hard time pulling off football and soccer it was a couple crazy months.  Then basketball started these last couple weeks, which went into soccer as well.  He excited to just be playing one sport at a time for the winter season.

Preston's first ever Band concert

Preston had his first band concert.  They just showed all the parents all they have learned the first few months of school.  Preston is loving percussion.  He loves playing the drums, and xylophone, and loves the teacher too.  I wish this was a phase, because I don't know how I feel about having drums in my house.  I don't think it is though; I think we are in this for the long hall.  Great job Preston.

Halloween Weekend 2015

We started our Halloween celebrations off on Thursday for Brecken, with the libraries Halloween costume parade.  We invited cousin Tynlee and got all dressed up and ready.  We love our library and all the fun things they do each week for the kids.  Brecken goes once or twice a week to the library to story time and has a blast.  We started out listening to a Halloween story, then it was off to parade around the library to show off our costumes.  Then we headed back into our party room to play some fun games.  We played pin the spider on the web.  We also did the Cupcake walk.  Both of the kids got a cupcake on that one.  We did pumpkin bean bag toss, and then decided we were done.  The next day Friday I had to help out in Shaylee's class party.  I was in charge of Halloween Freeze Dance.  The kids loved this…(well mostly the boys).  Some of the girls were a little more Shy about it.  Of Course.  I sure love meeting the kids friends, and teachers, and helping out in the classroom when I can.  Friday afternoon in between Soccer Practices, and Parties, we got our pumpkins all cleaned out and ready to carve that night with family.  We sure had fun carving the pumpkins.  We had Grandpa and Grandma Eves, Aunt Stephanie, and Uncle Devin and Aunt Lisa's family.  We had a lot of fun, and I realized yet again like every year.  I hate carving pumpkins.  I did Brecken's and he insisted on…wait for it…..balloons.  So I went to work on some balloons for his pumpkin.  It looks more like some type of face with the two eyes and a nose, but it's the thought that counts and he loved it.  Saturday we woke up and went and had Breakfast with the family at the Eves house.  We then headed home to get ready for soccer games.  Preston and Shaylee both played today.  Both teams ended with ties.  We got done and home around 4 from Shaylee's and started to get everything ready for Halloween that night.  We had a blast going around with Brecken.  He would go up and say Trick or Treat, and then Thank you.  So polite.  We are in such a little area where we Trick or Treat that we let the other kids go by themselves.  We ran into them regularly and Addison ended up staying with us and helping Breck and cousin Tynlee.  We finished up and headed in for some warm Chili, and donuts.  We had so much fun, and were so glad we have parents who still live in our old neighborhood so we can go back trick or treating.  The kids costumes were quiet easy this year.  Since so many people put in so much work from last years props and costumes we kept it the same, but just had the kids dress up.  So they all stayed the same, and we had Brecken be Peter Pan. (Preston's old costume), but that evening he was an Archer to go along with the theme.
