Introducing Landon Kirk Monson

Landon Kirk Monson
October 20, 2016
There is no rhyme or reason to my pictures or how they uploaded.  I did have them in order, but when they came on the screen they were all mixed up.  Anyway it doesn't matter all that matter's is that we have a baby.
Landon Kirk Monson came into the world October 20th 2016 @ 12:22 p.m.  He was 36 weeks and 1 day old. So considered a preemie and to early so the NICU was standing by.  for being 4 weeks early he weighed 6 lbs 1 oz, and was 19 1/2 " long.  He was a little guy, but was strong and we didn't end up needing the NICU in the room.  Yea!  He came out crying and his lungs were great.
I went into my Dr. apt Wednesday the 19th, they checked me and told me I was at a 3-4 and 80 % effaced.  Brecken and I left the Dr, and I hurt the rest of the day.  We still managed to stop off and see dad.  Take him a treat from kneaders, and a smoothie.  While we were at his work he showed us around.  After that I went over to Lisa's to get some clothes for Dean, that Devin didn't want anymore.  WE stayed and played and ate a lunch.  I then came home and put my legs up since they were aching from being checked earlier that day.  I then went over to mom's house that night with the family and we ate dinner.  I was feeling sore, but nothing out of the ordinary.  During the night I had some cramping and some contraptions here or there, but nothing that kept me up for to long.  The next morning though as soon as I went to the bathroom I had blood and other stuff letting me know it wouldn't be to much longer.  I then started having not consistent contraptions around 7:30-8  I sent Dean into work to finish up a few things and clear his schedule for the day.  But by 8:30 they were coming every 3 minutes.  I called Dean to hurry up and hurry home.  We dropped kids off at school, and dropped Breck off at preschool and hurried down to the hospital.  I was in so much pain on the way down I could barley control myself.  I was hardly getting any relief from the pain.  maybe 30 seconds and then the next one would come.  We made it to the hospital about 10.  They checked me and I was at a 4, so I decided to get an epidural to help hold me over.  We got into the room a few minutes later and i told them I think I needed to push.  They checked me again like 15 minutes later and I was at a 7.  I got my epidural, and felt a lot better.  Dr. Lunt came in and checked me I was pretty much at a 9  he broke my water, and I had Landon at 12:22.  I pushed through 2 contractions and he was born!!  It was my fastest birth as well as my only day birth.  I think if Dr. Lunt would have come in and broke my water during the night on all my other kids I would have went just as fast.  They would always wait tell I was at a 10 before they called him.  He was such a sweet baby.  They didn't take him from me he just got to lay on me as soon as he was born and he just opened his eyes and looked around.  It was so fun to see him.  I had my sisters  Stephanie and Lisa in the room with me.  They kept things fun and entertaining.  I also had my mom and dad.  It was fun to have everyone there especially were I didn't have to wake them in the night.  Matt and Marci were the winners who got to watch Brecken.  They were great like that.  I had a great day in the hospital with Landon he was so alert that first day and stayed awake a lot.  He ended up having really low blood levels when they checked him.  They said he should at least be above a 40 he was a 27.  So they feed him this sugar paste that he gagged on and didn't like.  The nurses checked again an hour later and it had went up to a 35 but still hadn't passed.  They said that he had to pass this next time and 2 times after that or he would be taken to the NICU.  They feed him this paste again, and after an hour checked.  He passed with a 57.  Then all I needed to do was get him through 2 whole feedings, and after each feeding he had to pass the test.  It was really hard feeding him after all that paste and he just wasn't' latching on well or even wanting to eat so they had to supplement a certain kind of milk to keep his blood levels high.  We had all the kids and family stop by that night to see Landon and then Dean headed home with them to sleep with them that night.  Landon passed all his test around 10:30 that night I think.  They then took him off to do his car seat test.  Since he was considered early they have to check his oxygen levels for an hour while he sits in a car seat.  The nurse wheeled him into my room around 1:30.  I feed him, and then ended up staying up with him for another hour.  By that time I was in pain and tired.  I got some medicine and sent him off to the Nursery.  They wheeled him back in around 7:30 to eat, and then took him again to do his hearing testing and his jaundice testing.   Dean came back around 10:00 to get us and hopefully get discharged soon.  We ended up waiting on Dr. Lunt to come in and we headed home around 2:30 Friday afternoon.  Breck ended up being on the low spectrum for Jaundice so we had to take him back in Saturday morning to the lab to do more testing.   It seemed like this kid was always needing to be pricked in the poor heel.  It was so good to be back home and around my family.  I can't' believe we are a family of 7 now.  We are Complete!!!
