Sewing

Shaylee has a Home Economic class, and one of the requirements was to make an apron.  Shaylee was sick right before spring break, and we missed the first day back for Preston's surgery, so Shaylee had to make up some of her sewing at home.  Good thing we have a grandma who knows how to use a sewing machine and sew.  Shaylee wasn't to fond of it, but she did a great job and got an A on the project.

Preston's Chest Surgery!

Preston has had some health issues we couldn't quiet figure out.  After seeing a few Dr. one of them mentioned his concave chest, and how that can put a strain on the organs around it.  We went up to see a specialist and he recommended getting the surgery for Preston.  After a bunch of heart and chest tests, we decided it would be really beneficial for Preston to get the surgery.  Especially if he keeps growing the indent will just get deeper and deeper, putting more strain on the heart and lungs.  We scheduled the surgery for right after basketball season.  He has to miss Soccer, but should be good to do activities come Summer.  The hospital staff kept commenting on how this is one of the worst procedures pain wise that they deal with.  Preston was pretty nervous to do the surgery, have an IV, and get put under.  We were already up North for Spring Break so we had the kids miss Monday of school so both Dean and I could be there for the surgery.  We Prayed so much that Preston wouldn't get the sickness that all the other kids got up at Grandpa and Grandma Monson's.  Landon got it first stomach bug.  Then Brecken and Addison got it, and Monday morning during the surgery Shaylee got it.  We arrived at the hospital at 7:30, and got called back to get everything started.  We waited about 2 hours and around 11:00 they took him back for surgery.  The surgery was going to be about 2 1/2 hours, so Dean went back to the Monson's to pack and pick up the other kids, and my mom and dad stayed with me at the hospital.  We went to lunch and came back and waited another couple hours before Dean arrived with the kids.  Preston still wasn't out of surgery so we had mom and dad Eves take the sick kids home and Dean would leave a little later after he saw Preston out of surgery.  We were finally called back about 2:30 to see him.  He looked good and really just wanted to sleep.  It took him quiet awhile to wake up out of anaesthesia. The one thing he kept asking was about the time.  He would point and tap on his wrist, and finally was able to communicated he wanted to know the time.  He was so afraid he would miss the Jazz game.  Ha Ha Ha.  True fan right there.  We finally were wheeled into our room around 3:30.  Got all situated and Dean left us about 5:00 to head home.  Preston was hungry and we ordered shrimp.  We thought they would be the small little shrimp so we ordered two meals of them.  When they came we couldn't stop laughing at how big they were.  He ate pretty good  I think he ate 8 and had 12.  He had a hard night with nurses waking him up every hour or so to give medicine or get vitals.  The next day he started in on a cough.  That was probably the worst thing he had to deal with.  The pretty much had broken and re molded his chest and to have a cough start up was really hard for him.  We were in the hospital until Thursday when we finally got the okay to go home.  My dad drove up that morning and We loaded up around 12:00 to go home.  The kids were so excited and worried to see Preston, and Preston was just glad to be home.  We had a long journey a head of us with 2-3 weeks of missing school to 3-6 months of no physical contact sports or anything like that.  No carrying a backpack for the remainder of the year, as well as no walking in the halls with other kids who could bump and hurt him.  It was sure a lot more healing and involved then what we first thought.  Preston was glad he did it and has enjoyed watching March madness while he is laid up.

Saturday/Sunday of Spring Break up North.

Saturday Morning Dean stayed behind to help mom with dad and watch the two little boys while Lea and I took the kids to the Bountiful temple to do baptisms. It was so packed we waited about an hour to get back to even get dressed then another 45 minutes to go in the font area, and then another 30 minutes for the kids to get baptized.  Preston was able to baptize all the kids plus a couple more.  It was so neat to see my son do that for the first time.  Definitely a proud mom moment right there.  He spoke loud and did a great job.  After the temple we headed home because dad needed a break from the boys.  We got home to the Monson's and planned to spend the day with mom and watch the Jazz game on T.V. with them.  That evening as we were eating dinner Addison said she wasn't feeling good and started to throw up.  She spent the evening sick by the toilet.  Around midnight I was awaken by throw up being splashed on the ground around me.  As Brecken throw up off the top bunk onto the bed below and the ground.  It was a mess.  We had to clean up all the while Addison and Brecken were throwing up as we cleaned up.  During the cleaning up time Dad Monson needed help so Dean helped his mom with dad while I continued to clean up throw up.  I think I took out 20 trash bags of throw up in them that night.  It was a really rough night for all of us.  I don't think I slept more then an hour or two at the most.  The next day was Sunday and after the night we had we were going to have Dean head home with the sick kids so that Preston wouldn't get the sickness with his surgery the next day.  After morning came though we decided to just have Preston stay upstairs like he did the night before and have the sick kids stay downstairs.  It was a pretty rough day for dad and the two sick kids but they started getting on the mend around the late afternoon and so that was good.  We woke up early Monday morning and left Shaylee in charge of the kids and packing.  We got a call saying Shaylee was sick and throwing up when we arrived at the hospital.  We were praying the rest of us wouldn't get it.  It was definitely a hard spring break with Dean's dad on hospice and slowly dying, to the sick kids, and surgery.  I've never been more exhausted in my whole life.

Spring Break part 2 (up North)

Thursday evening we headed up North to go visit Grandma and Grandpa Monson.  Grandpa Monson has taken a turn for the worse and is on hospice at home. So we wanted to get up and see him and help out grandma anyway we could.  We got up there Thursday evening and watched the last couple of minutes of the Jazz game.  We then headed off to bed.  Friday morning Landon woke up happy and playing with me.  About 5 minutes later he comes running into me throwing up.  I thought it was maybe a little food issues from what he ate from the night before.  Sure enough though a little later he threw up again, and again.  We ended up going up to shop at Farmington station.  Brecken needed a new pair of pants.  We didn't last long though because Landon couldn't stop throwing up.  Poor kiddo.  We then headed home to put Landon down for a nap, and to rest a little.  by the afternoon he still didn't feel well and had thrown up about 11 times.  We had plans to meet up with my cousin Lea and her family.  Dean stayed behind with Landon and his parents, while I took the kids out to eat, and Ice Skate.  The kids get along so well with the Belnaps and they always have the best time.  I was a little worried skating by myself without Dean to help me with Brecken.  We did great though and had a blast.  After skating the kids wanted to sleep over at the Belnaps.  Brecken stayed with me at the Monson's, but the rest of the kids went up to stay the night.  We were meeting up with them the next morning to go to the bountiful temple to do baptisms for the dead with the kids.

Spring Break day 3

On the 3rd day of spring break we headed down to Fiesta Fun.  No cousins could come with us this time so it was just our family solo.  Which was a blast anyway.  Landon tried bowling for the first time and enjoyed it, so much so that he wanted a turn all the time and had a hard time waiting tell his turn.  Preston, Shaylee, and Addison all did awesome, and then I had Brecken, and Landon share a turn.  Preston ended up with the win somewhere in the 120's.  Shaylee and Addison weren't far behind, and then the littlest came in around 60's.  After bowling we went to Larsen's frost top to get some Glaciers (our favorite).  I sure did have fun spending time with my kids.

Spring Break Day 2

On Tuesday we decided to head to the Rec Center and Swim.  It wasn't going to be as nice of day and so the kids chose an inside activity.  We picked up Jaden, Tanner, and Kendyll and brought them with us to play and hang out.  Most of the big kids started off on the rock climbing wall, or in playing basketball.  I took the little boys and headed to the pool.  They had a blast and wanted to go everywhere.  A little later the big kids showed up and played with the little boys, and everyone had a blast.  We stayed tell about 5:30, and then headed home to get dinner and clean up.

Spring Break Day 1

Day 1 of Spring Break was actually going to be nice weather.  We decided to spend the day outside playing in the sun.  We asked cousins to join us and grabbed some lunch and headed to a park with pickle ball courts.  The weather was amazing and felt so good to just lay in it and feel the warmth on your face.  The older kids had a blast playing pickle ball while the younger kids had fun running around on the soccer fields and playing at the park.  It was the perfect day for a picnic and being outside.  Later we headed home to have dinner and have a movie night.

Preston FINALLY got his Driving permit.

Preston turned 15 right in the middle of Basketball season.  He has basketball every night of the week, so we never were able to make it to the Drivers License Division.  When basketball was over we made finally made it. During spring Break I took him during the day.  He passed and he went out that night with his dad and drove around, and then I took him when we were up north in Grandma and Grandpa Monsons neighborhood. It's so weird to think I have a kid old enough to drive

Dr Seuss Week.

Brecken had Dr. Seuss week the week before spring break.  One of the days he had to dress up in Blue and Red.  Landon wanted to dress up as well so we made them "Thing 1, and Thing 2."They sure loved to put spray paint in their hair.
