It seemed like we had waited forever for the stockshow to get here, but it actually wasn't long at all. We had to get them all washed, shaved and cleaned for the stock show a few days in advanced so we could get everyone's in our group lambs ready. The stock show started thursday. Monday we started to shave and clean lambs. We had Breckens and Addison's set for Tuesday and then I came back and helped with a few other lambs on Wednesday. Thursday we were up bright and early to get our lambs all in the trailer to get them registered and weighed. We got our weight class a little later in the day and then got them all washed up and ready to show for the day. This day was long we had to wait around to find out what weight class and time we would be showing our lambs. Luckley my kids weights were the same at 113 so they would be in the same weight class. We got the stales all set up and ready for the lambs adn then 3 escaped. Breckens, Marks, and Tanner's. They were chasing them everywhere and we had so many guys in their trucks trying to coral them. About 30/40 minutes later we were able to wrangle up the lambs and get them back in their pens. This year they did lightest to heaviest lambs. So we had to get our lambs washed up, cleaned, dried, and fluffed and be ready to go out with the second set of lambs. We were on around 1:30. The judge was their to judge on showmanship that day. Since Brecken had broke his arm he couldn't' show his sheep because he couldn't use his arm. Addison did a great job for her first time and got some good feedback from the judge. The judge was judging the handler of the sheep and how well they showed them. Addison learned so much and her sheep who is a stubborn one ended up doing well with others around it. One thing is the judges take a while to ask the kids questions and watch each person with their lamb. We were done around 3:30 and were excited for the next day. Thursday night we got a text saying that they would be showing lambs by smallest weight to biggest the next day again. Which meant that we had to be up and early to get to our lambs before It got to hetic in the washing area. Addison wanted to be over there by 7:00 so we got both sheep out and washed and cleaned them all up. Today Brecken could show his sheep with someone holding it because this day was all about the showing of the sheep and how the judges like the sheep. In our group Breckens was the first to get pulled at first I thought this was a good thing because they day before the judge pulled the top one first and then went down to the bottom. Addison's was still in it with 2 left and I was nervous she would get last. Well they pulled the top 2 last this time. So Addison got top 2 in her division which made it so she would be in the finals. Breckens pulled in last with a bunch of stuff I didn't understand from the judges. I just know it was hilarious what they would say and why they liked certain lambs. Addison's made it to the showmanship finals later that day. So we thought it would be a fast day and ended up being long to see how addison's sheep placed within all the sheeps weight classes. She did great and we were so excited for her. We got home around 5:00 that day and addison headed off to Ballroom dance while we waited to see where we would be placed in the stockshow the next morning. We found out Addison would be in the top 20 of all the animals. Cows, Pigs, Sheep, and Goats. So we knew were had a early morning again. Breckens since he didn't get to show in showmanship they had to go off of only one day so he was toward the bottom for selling sheep. We got Addison's all washed and ready to go and waited for the bidding to start. It was fun to watch this part and see how it all worked. Addison had to wait at least another hour after we were ready before she got called up. The auction was going really slow. She pulled out their and we were nervous because the sheep before hers only sold for 800 and last year all the sheep went for a 1000 plus. Addison was up and I was saying a prayer it would show well for her. She ended up with 1300$ for her sheep and we were both happy with that. We then had to wait the rest of the day tell the end to see who well Breckens would sale. Addison was in the top 20 and Breckens I think was in the bottom 35. When it was time to clean Breckens to be up he wasn't having it and pretty much made us drag him all the way to the arena it was the worst. Trying to pull him into the arena from the barn was the worst he would not move and we didn't want to drag him and get him all dirty. We finally got him to the auction and Addison showed Breckens sheep while brecken stood off to the side. Breckens sheep for being a the end still got 1000$ so we took that and were very pleased with the amount both kids got for their sheep. Again this was a long day with how they had spaced out the kids showing times. We had to clean up the stalls and make sure we loaded everything up and headed home. It was a great learning experience and the kids said they wanted to do it again next year. We will see how that pans out.
