13.1 Miles half for half the family

Dean talked all the older kids into running the Southern Utah half marathon back in January.  They had some rough training or should I say lack thereof.  When the race finally came the girls were excited about the matching outfits they got everyone and Preston was ready to get this over with... with Dean excited to be racing with his kids.  The first 4 miles in I  got a call asking for bandaids.... I  should have known at 4 miles that couldn't be good.  Stephanie rode down with the boys and I so we could go cheer on our family and different stops a long the way of the race.  We stopped a little over 4 miles in at a cute park.  There were hot air balloons all around the race area that morning and they were right at that spot were we were cheering while are crew went by.  We  spotted Quin first and he let us know Preston was right behind him because he had o stop to use the bathroom.  We spotted Preston a couple minutes later. He looked great and was feeling good as well.  Next we saw Shaylee she was the one asking for band aids because she had 2 blisters starting on her feet.  Dean and Addison were right behind Shaylee so we got all of the back to back.  Addison was doing okay at this point and Dean was keeping her company and her spirits high.  After that stop we headed across town and found another spot were we could watching them come under a bridge.  We barely saw Preston as he past.  He was keeping a great pace and was moving pretty good still.  Shaylee came next under the bridge and said she was dying but doing okay.  She said they were at mile 9 at that spot.  Then came Addison and Dean.  Addison did not look happy at all and was angry and glaring for all videos and pictures.  They were doing a fast walk at this point and had 4 miles left to go.  We hurried and got in our car to try and make it to the finish line to see Preston.  Addison was a good 20-30 minutes behind him so we knew we would be cutting it close.  We found a spot to park and booked it running to the finish line.  We spotted Dani and Grandma Monson there ready to cheer on Quin and everyone.  We got there right when Quin was coming across.  Preston came a couple minutes later and looked good he came in right at the 2 hour mark.  We then watched out phones to see how far Shaylee and Addison were back.  Shaylee came a little bit later around 2:20.  She finished strong but then took off her socks to show us her blisters on both arches of her shoes.  They were so big and looked so sore.  At around 2:28 Addison and Dean came in. Addison did great and finished strong running in.  She said she would never run another marathon again.  I  think she would like it more if she trained, but she said she was miserable.  Everyone did great and we got some after race pictures and tried to hurry home so I  could coach Landons soccer game.
