St. George Marathon {10-02-10}
If any of you are familiar with P90X you know the phrase I'm about to use to sum up the Marathon. "You hate it....but you Love it." Although at mile 18 or sooner who am I kidding their was no love, just a hate relationship. As soon as I crossed that finish line...I loved it. Dean and I did it together. I couldn't have done it without my wonderful husband to give me words of encouragement. So great to put up with me for 26.2 miles that day. Thank you honey. I would like to say it was great, but it was one of the hardest things I've done physically as well as Mentally. I had to set little goals for myself throughout the race and not look to far ahead or I would get down. My first goal was Mile marker 15...why 15 you might say? Well it's past the 1/2 way point and it's where my wonderful brother in law would be waiting to rub me down with
bengay, and just to see someone you know (He was helping out at the aid station at mile marker 15)...He doesn't realize what a vital part he played for me mentally, but I thank him anyway. It was so much fun to finally see people and see family around mile 24.

I was spent and Dean would have to shake me out of my zone to let me know family was coming up. I was so excited to see everyone that came to support us, I tried jumping up and down and cheering, but from the looks of the pictures, I was failing at that attempt (side note..body will not do what you want it to after 26.2 miles). The last 3 miles were really hard because your so close yet it's the longest 3 miles of your life. Crossing the finish line with my Husband was amazing. I know were a little
cheesy but we held hand the last little bit so that we could cross the finish line together.

I was hoping for 4 hr 30
mins. and we got 4 hrs 27
mins...we were trying to finish sooner then that a month ago, but I had a knee injury so it went to just finish...to try our hardest to finish under 5 to we will try for 4 30 and not be
disappointed if we
didn't get it. So I was happy...I know Dean could have done a lot better, heck he said he had a few more miles in him:( Not me) but he stayed with me and helped me..and I love him all the more for it.

On a side note we also had family visiting all weekend, but between buying a house and renovating it, and the marathon, plus conference we didn't get to see everyone we were hoping to see, but we love everyone who came and supported us. We also loved the posters.. thanks for taking the time to make them for us. The one should have made the paper, my dad got more comments on that poster then I think anyone did.

Way to go Amber on the big run! Did you run your asphalt off like your dad said? Your dad is a riot! :) That is very impressed with the whole race. I don't know if I have running something like that in me anymore! Thanks for always leaving sweet comments on my blog. Your family is so cute!
