Bandon Oregon Day 1
We arrived in Bandon Oregon Sunday afternoon. The kids couldn't wait to get out on the beach and fly kites, play in the waves, and build sandcastles. Unfortunately the weather did not want to cooperate with us. It was so cold and windy, we couldn't get the kites in the air, because the wind was so strong it just kept tangling them up. A few of the kids went and jumped waves for awhile, while Shaylee, Dad, Breck, and I started on the sandcastle. It was rough because the wind kept blowing sand in our eyes, and mouths. With everyone else's help we finished up the volcano sandcastle, and headed into the indoor pool and spa to warm our cold bodies up. The kids swam for about an hour, and then we headed back to get ready for dinner that night. We tried a place in old town bandon right off the pier. It was a family friendly place with a bunch of very old women who ran it. After dinner we stopped and got Dean a blizzard for father's day, and then headed in to retire for the night. The wind had died down a little, and the sunset was amazing.
Bandon Oregon Day 2
We woke up bright and early the next day, because right of our beach house the wildlife people come and set up for the morning to show people the different creatures, caves, tide pools, and wildlife around our beach. We were actually quiet excited about this. 6:30 we headed down to the beach to see some tied pools. We met a wonderful volunteer who taught us many things, and left the kids with a sand dollar. We saw seals that morning, a bunch of sea creatures, star fish, rare birds, and all sorts of treasures. The tide was a little high that morning so we didn't get to go into the caves, but we knew we could be back tomorrow to see. After our early morning beach adventure we went and got our breakfast, got ready and headed out for our horseback riding on the beach appointment. I was the most excited about this, but new I wouldn't be able to participate due to my condition, but the family all saddled up and went while I read a book in the car. They had a great time, and our still talking about their horses. Dean and Breck rode on Texas, Shaylee had keeper, Addison's was called Hannah, and Preston's rode MoDoc. They were able to ride for about 2 hours to and from the coral, and had a blast. As soon as Breck was back he had to Pee, he held it the whole time Dean said, boy did he go a lot. After horseback riding it was getting close to lunch, and Dean had been talking about having fresh seafood for months before this vacation. I found a famous fish chips, and chowder shop that was right on the pier, it was quiet small, but that didn't stop the people from coming. The kids and Dean LOVED it!!! In fact Dean and Preston loved it so much they went back that night. We then took a ride on a famous sightseeing loop, and saw a few different places at some national parks. We saw a lighthouse, a island full of seals, and beautiful scenery. We also saw face rock, and a bunch off beautiful beaches. After our ride the kids all wanted to swim…not in the ocean mind you, but at our hotel pool. So that's what we did for a couple hours, then went and got dinner, and called it a night. A few of the kids got up early again the next morning to see anymore seals, and caves, while I let Breck sleep. They were able to go in the cave a little bit, but it was filling up with water so they hurried. After the beach combing again, we got breakfast, and started to clean up to go on our next adventure for the day. THE REDWOODS.
