We left home around 1:00, and got to our hotel around 2:50 Arizona time. We had to wait for check-in, so we had a little trail by our hotel that was called lookout point. We walked down to see the river and the dam, and the kids were shocked at how big the dam looked. They are used to our little lake dams here in southern Utah. After our hike we checked in to our hotel, and headed out to hike Horseshoe bend. So many tourist buses stop there and it was packed. We were used to the heat though and were able to pass most of the big groups and get down to the end of the trail fairly quickly. We had a lot of fun as a family hiking together. Dean had Landon on his back and was a little nervous about the kids getting to close to the edge. We got some pictures, and then I crawled to the end of the cliff and took some pictures. After that we headed to Wal-mart to get some supplies and ended our night with a cute Mexican food place. It was yummy. We ended the evening with a dip in our pool where the kids played chicken wars with each other and sat in the hot tub.
Lake Powell Day #2
We woke up and headed out to see the Glen Canyon Dam and get a tour. The tour was really cool to go on and see and hear about all they went through to get the dam up and running. The kids loved the elevators that took us down to the bottom and through the dam. After the dam we headed out to Antelope Canyon. I booked this a month before we left and I was super excited to go. It was beautiful. I couldn't stop taking pictures. The kids really did great on the hike and Brecken was a trooper. After Antelope canyon we headed out to a BBQ place to eat and again ended up at the pool that night.
Lake Powell Day #3
We started the morning off with a trail ride. We took the 4 wheeler and ranger with us and went on a trail that was supposed to lead us to a secluded spot on the Lake. I got so sick into the ride and didn't see the end in site so I stopped and asked if we could turn around. Landon was screaming and the other kids weren't feeling so good and were so hot. Dean kept going and said we were about 100 yards away from water. Darn it. We had a good time though. We headed back and ate lunch and went down to the dock, because my family was coming with the boat and jet skis that day. We started boating around 12:00, and ended the day around 8:00. We were all so beat we took food back to our room for dinner and crashed.
Lake Powell Day #4
Lake day all day. We were up and out on the water by 9:00. We set up camp on a secluded beach and had a little Beach sand area to ourselves, as well as some cliffs for the kids to jump off too. The kids all tried surfing and got up, as well as knee boarding and loved it. Brecken was my big surprise. He wanted to do all the things. He learned to knee board, and loved it. He sure had a blast playing in the sand and finding seashells as well as all the kids. The older kids loved the jet ski's, and cliff jumping. We all brought picnic stuff and had lunch under our canopies. Mom and Dad made it out for the all day lake day, and they sure were troopers. Landon loves the boat and does so well on it. So many memories were made, such a fun day. We got off the lake around 6:30/7:00 and went to take everyone to the Mexican place. We were seated and then ended up waiting around an hour for our food. We ended up there tell almost 9:00. We were all so wiped out we didn't even shower and went right to bed when we got to the hotel.
Lake Powell #5 (Last day)
We woke up and packed up our room we had to check out at 10:00. We headed off to the lake around 9:30 and got on the boat. Everyone took a turn at surfing one last time, and playing on the beach and in the water. We headed home around 1:00, and prayed the kids would sleep. Landon was not having any of it, and cried for the last hour home. It was rough. We got home and I sent some of the kids straight to the shower while I cleaned up with dean and Preston. We had such a fun week and couldn't believe that we hadn't been to Lake Powell before this trip. It was amazing, and definitely wont be our last time going.
