Taffy Making Class

After Landons basketball game we had a apt for a candy (taffy) making class.  We had asked some of the family if they wanted to join us.  Dean was the least excited, because his words (I don't cook and that doesn't not sound fun).  He did it though and I think he enjoyed being with us and doing the activity.  They were very good about moving the class along and teaching.  The taffy was really hard to get started with pulling and stretching.  Once it started going though it wasn't to bad.  After we pulled and stretched it we divided it into 1/2/3 balls to make our flavors.  I went with 3 since I  couldn't decided on my flavors.  I  chose pineapple coconut, raspberry vanilla, and peach raspberry.  They all were delicious.  I do wish I  had added more pineapple as the coconut flavor was definitely the strongest.  My favorite was the raspberry vanilla.  It was so good.  Landon chose 2 flavors mango, and watermelon.  Dean had 3 flavors, which I  can't remember.  I  know one had watermelon in it.  I  think one was strawberry vanilla, and the 3rd maybe a pineapple coconut as well.  Brecken also did 3 choices.  He had pineapple coconut sour, watermelon, and strawberry something, and blue raspberry sour. Dean also added nerds to one of his as a mix in and Brecken of course did sour and glitter.  After the flavor you get the colors and mix ins you want and start over with the pulling and stretching.  When everything is incorporated you flatten it out into the design you would like and then roll it up.  You take it to the machine that rolls it out to the right length and then cuts it.  You then go back to your station and wrap them up.  You get to take home your own personal bag of your flavors and it was a lot of fun.  Glad we got to do it and do something different and fun.
