July 24th Fun!

We had such a fun Pioneer day.  Both of our girls were gone this week.  Addison was up North visiting her Cousin Emily, and Shaylee was at BYU Soccer camp.  We started the morning off with a parade in Hurricane.  Our primary was in it so Brecken got to ride on a float...Kai joined him as well.  The kids were throwing candy and all the kids were on the floats so most of the parents had to get the candy.  Dean and Landon did a great job of collecting it all.  After the parade we headed up to cooler weather with Quin and Dani's family to Cedar Mountain.  I had heard of some fun hikes up that way as well as a fishing pond I thought we might try.  We got up there about 10:30 got a lunch to save and headed up the canyon.  We did a fun 2.5 mile hike up to a lake and it looped back around.  It was so pretty and some clouds so it made for a beautiful day.  The kids were all troopers with the hike and had so much fun hanging out together.   We ate along the way to the pond, and got out our fishing stuff.  I'll let you know Dean and I grew up fishing I have a love for it.  Our kids on the other hand have always been skunked for the most part.  One year at Fish lake we didn't get skunked, but other then that we haven't had any luck, but this little pond did not disappoint.  Breck and Kai casted out and Breck caught the first fish, then Quin and Kai, then Brecken again,  Breck I think caught 4 or 5 fish.  We had to keep 2 because the hook got caught down to far into the throat and the fish just didn't make it by the time we got it out.  Kai I think got 1 or 2, and at the last second Preston got one as well.  Preston's ended up being the biggest, but got off and back in the water before I could get a picture.  It was such a fun and exhausting day, but we loved it so much.  I love the mountains and of course my family.
