Hello everyone, I am so sorry to have missed last weeks email that is 100 percent on me. A couple things from the previous week we missed..
Divisions with another in training:
On Friday November 4th. Splits, divisions, whatever you may know it by occurred. Our District Leader paired his comp who is also being trained, with me. He thought he was so sly you already know it. But believe it or not I actually enjoyed it. We had to use translator a few times but I saw great strides in my spanish and it was good. My comp for the day, Elder Cook, I don't think enjoyed it as much. He was pretty upset with our district Leader. One of the reasons might be that nobody can pronounce his last name.. they all pronounce it as "Cock". And before he could correct them or work on their pronunciation I would hurry and say "Yes this is Edler Cock!" Because let's be honest that's pretty funny. Idk, maybe when I turn 19 here soon I'll have matured a little bit more we'll see. The rest of the day I called him Cockmeister (with his consent in case it bothered him.. he gave me the okay don't worry). And it was a blast.
The big worry: Also, in this week, Elder Treyden D. Hall sent a video to Elder Payton Michael Wheeler and I on Pday.. October 31.. warning Elder Wheeler of a potential problem he may have. My comp watched the video, and must have taken it a bit to seriously, because we went to the hospital for some reason... he came out relieved, telling me to tell my friend Elder Hall that he was wrong. I haven't laughed that hard in awhile it was awesome. The reason I put this in the email is because my mom is saving all my emails, and I want to be able and look back and remember this. But for reasons of respect and privacy I am not going to elaborate any further on what the matter was.
Okay now on to this week..
Tuesday: Woke up and worked abs really hard. Rumor has it that Elder Joseph Loveless only works out abs. I would advise against this as every muscle group is important and you shouldn't just focus on that 6 pack Joseph. In our Santa's Little Ballers days, my brother Pop Smoke or better known as Trey Larsen was quick to point out that Joey only works out abs and ever since I have been trying to help him work other groups. Joseph, I hope that you are now becoming more well rounded but wanted to let you know, that on Tuesday, November 9th, 2022, I just worked out abs as well. Then it was a normal day as usual. We taught some really spiritual lessons and also scolded some people for not coming to church even though they said they would. Those little rats. Anyways it was good, something I remember is there was a lady, and with the men they always do firm hand shakes but I've realized with the women I should be more delicate because they don't return the firmness. So with this new lady we contacted, I went in with a nice delicate and polite hand shake, and she absolutely murdered my hand. I have never felt such a firm handshake in my life.
Tuesday night: Tuesday night was perhaps one of the best nights of my mission thus far. Here's why... so tomorrow, (which I will get too so hold tight).. nobody in all of Paraguay is allowed to leave their houses. So president told us to go buy stuff Tuesday night for Wednesday. We went shopping. And English music was playing in this store. And it was absolutely amazing. I got a lot of weird looks as I was jamming out. Also. I saw Christmas stuff.. and Christmas is just simply the best holiday without a doubt in my soul. And if you think otherwise then you're just trying to be different and nobody likes you. Haha, I'm teasing.. kind of. Anyways it was awesome I got super happy seeing all the Christmas stuff. And then I went home. Hopped onto Facebook for a few minutes (we are allowed 10 minutes a day). And saw a post bye my soul brother and hero Jon Homer. So of course, I pay a little bit closer attention. And I realize that my brother Hollis, posted a story, about a mission call, and Jon reposted it and was inviting everyone to come. I don't know why I didn't know this? I was in the dark. When I saw this, I don't know how to explain the happiness I felt, Hollis you're a stud. I've been praying for you, I'm glad that you were given the experiences that you needed to have, to make that decision to go on a mission. And also that you didn't rush your decision out of worry of being judged or looked at differently. You're an awesome man, and one of my heroes and brothers. Thanks for always being a good example. Tuscon Arizona is very lucky to be getting you.. anyways! Love you buddy, proud of you.
Wednesday, The Purge: So, everyone tried scaring me and telling me that Paraguay has a purge, where one day out of the year, all laws are dropped and.. yeah you know how it goes.. I was at first deeply upset because I got a feeling to buy numbchucks the other week, thinking it could help me with robbers and just being safe. But then got my mother's voice running through my head calling me an idiot. So I put them back. After those thoughts of the numbchucks subsided, I came back to what we call earth and realized they were just being stupid. They have a Census today for the population of Paraguay, and nobody can leave. So.. we cleaned, worked out, studies real good, and then at 7:00 all of my Zone hopped on a bus for 8 hours back to the mission office.
Thursday: Woke up and studied and chilled. And then the North mission and my mission gathered in the Chuch to listen to Elder Renlund one of the quorum of the 12. It was awesome. I got to shake his hand and introduce myself. He said "Nice to meet you" with a smile giving me the signal that I was a stud. It was an amazing experience. And the power I felt, shaking his hand, and listening to him. Was amazing. Something that I do is like look at the apostles and prophets as these Celestial beings or just.. kind of in another league. I don't know how to explain it. Something that was really cool that he said was, " I am nothing special, I am normal, but he who I represent is". And he made jokes, smiled, he was a normal human being. But the keys and spirit he has are amazing. He's awesome, loved this experience. Anyways.. after this I caught up with some of the missionaries, and then everyone went home except for a couple of us zones that were super far away. We stayed one more night.
Friday: We woke up earlier than usual to pack up and get on the bus. It was a long bus ride home. Then we did some work in our area. I was dead tired but it was good.
Saturday: Good studies, worked out like a champ, worked for a bit, had an amazing lunch, and then had Facebook. While working on Facebook we play some talks or lessons or devotionals that are really cool. It was neat fs. And after that we got 3 people to tell us they were coming to church tomorrow.
Sunday: Woke up, went to church. The 3 people who were coming to church all somehow had something come up.. super odd. But we have our 1 guy show up, 3rd time in a row. Josè. Now, I keep thinking or Rise of The Guardians. Where there's Santa, the Easter bunny, tooth fairy, sandman, jackfrost. And they have the globe, of believers. And there's one last yellow dot towards the end and they all focus on him and try to keep him believing. This is Josè for us. There are rumors of the area getting shut down. And Josè is our last good hope. We planned with our branch president an awesome lesson. And he accepted our baptismal invitation this Saturday.. if he receives an answer within that time period. So everyone pray for Josè. Super exciting. I remember getting those nerves like before a big basketball game. But boy Sunday night did Elder Monson deliver. 3 Bible References, 4 Book of Mormon References, 1 Personal experience, 4 testimonies, and 2 promises, were my stats for the lesson and I felt really good.
Monday: As some of you may know, it's always been a dream of mine to visit the 2nd largest dam in the world. And today on pday I was able to do that. But honestly it was super cool I loved it.. love you all, have an amazing day!
-Love Elder Monson
