We left on Wednesday bright and early to get to vegas to catch our 6:00 flight. We were on Southwest and were lucky enough to have landon who is still 7 and under so we were able to board with family since there wasn't assigned seating. We got seats together toward the back and were happy to be off and going. The flight was delayed to do an issue for about a 1/2 hour but then we got up in the air and started out. That is about the time Landon decided to get motion sickness. He threw up the whole way from Vegas to Tennessee and then some. We tried giving him so motion sickness medicine but it came right back up. We ran into some turbulence and so we were stuck in our seats. We went through all our barf bags and the 3 kids behind us barf bag. A lady next to us gave us her barf bag, and finally a stewardess brought us a big garbage bag since we would be stuck in our seats the remainder or the trip. When we arrived Justin was in one car and Katie and Emily were in another so we could use their car for our trip. We were so excited to see them and hoped that Landon would start to feel better. We ended up heading straight for the grand ole Opry to walk around there....no one wanted to pay to take the tour so we looked around from the outside, after pictures there and looking around we headed for downtown Nashville to hit up Broadway for lunch and listen to some music. The lunch was really good, Landon threw up on the way there, and then while we were in the restaurant he had to run to the bathroom and threw up then too. After lunch and listening to music we headed out to walk around. Most everyone wanted to head to Justin's house while Dean Katie, Shaylee, and I wanted to hit up the country music hall of fame. I can say I weren't there but Shaylee was not impressed...in fact she sat down and colored at the kids table. There were some cool things but I wish they would have had more now day singers as well. The album walls were really cool as well as some Elvis cars and memorabilia. We got down there and headed back to Justin and Katie's home. While we were driving Justin let us know that Landon seemed to be on the mend and was eating everything he could find. They had built a fire and played with the chickens while they were waiting for us to get back. The sunset was so pretty on the way back bright orange and reds. It was a beautiful area with tons or hills and trees. We got to Katie's and everyone was kind of beat from our early morning flight we had some snacks played some card games and hit the sack to get up early again for our road trip the next day.
Thursday: We were heading to DollyWood which was about 4 and a half hours away from Justin's place. We were all so tired again from getting up early but were excited to see a new place and go to DollyWood. On our way we had to stop in at the iconic BUCEE'S gas station. That thing is huge and we each got something we wanted to try there. I got these pecan praline things. Man they were so good. Dollywood was packed. I guess Tennessee was having their fall break as well. We were just patient and waited in the lines. We got on all the rides we wanted to and then some. We just went all day not stopping to eat. Later in the evening we found some Cinnamon Bread I was told you had to get. Justin ended up buying 10 of them. What?? They were really good though and we went through 2 of them while in the park. We all wanted to stay until the park got dark to see all the pumpkins lite up at night and ride some rides that hopefully weren't as long of lines later in the day. So we didn't get out of there tell after 9:00. Everyone was starving and wanted to get to our hotel. So we checked into our hotel and sent the guys so round up some food. We ended up with like a 60 piece chicken nugget and fries for everyone and it was devoured. lol. We were all so tired and went right to sleep.
Friday: We were awakened by uncle Justin knocking on our door and texting saying to go get breakfast before they stopped serving it. So while I got ready with Shaylee Dean took the boys to get breakfast. We then head out of pigeon forge up to the Smoky mountains. I was so excited to go to this National park it was gorgeous with the fog on the mountains. The weather was perfect and though we were trying to see the changing leaves we were about 2 weeks to early. Some were still changing but not all of them. We went to the visitors center and then took a little hike to a waterfall right next to it. We then went on a loop that we were told was pretty to see. Well it took us forever because it was one way and everyone else was trying to do that loop as well. After we left there around 3:00 we headed out to get some lunch on the way home. It was a long day in the car and the kids were excited to get back to Justin and Katies and run around and eat some pizza for dinner.
Saturday: Our plans consisted of helping Justin build up his bonfire for later that night and just hang out with the family. We woke up to get to work cutting down fallen trees and bushes. There are so many trees everywhere. It helped that Justin has a backhoe to help drag some of those big trees. He let Brecken and Landon use the Chain saw with him and they thought that was really cool. The girls with Emily's help pulled out some trees with their Ranger and carried them over to the fire. After helping on the property we headed out to See some Amish and get some good mexican food. We didn't have the best of luck spotting to many Amish but we did see some In there buggies on the road, as well as some pulling a canoe to go to the pond. We then went and got some mexican food and my goodness the boys still talk about how good there food was. We downed the chips and salsa before we had even ordered. lol. I got a fajita salad that was soooo good. After lunch we headed back to Justin and Katie's to hang out there and walk around the property and get the bonfire going so it had time to die down to cut our dinner on it. Katie had hot dogs and chicken were were going to have for dinner. She cooked the chicken on the grill and we tried to cook the hotdogs on the bonfire, but it was still to hot to get to close. We then made a smaller fire in their fire pit and did smores that night. It was such a good and relaxing day just being with family. We had another early morning the next day to get to the airport.
Sunday: We had to get up at 2:00 to head out to the airport. Our flight left at 5:00 and we were an hour and a half away from the airport. Justin was the lucky one to drop us off and leave that early with us. It was bittersweet saying goodbye. The boys just love Justin and had a blast with him. We all did. We made it through the gate really fast this time around and had about 50 minutes until boarding. Landon took some motion sickness pills and did so good on the way home. I woke up with crop cough and no voice not feeling that well so I slept as much as I could on the plane. We landed in vegas around lunch time and were home by 2:00. It was such a fun and memorable trip especially sweet because we got to spend it with family and see a new place we have never been. I loved it.
