Hawaii Day 6!

Pearl Harbor, Dole Pineapple plantation, North Shore, and Beach.
We headed out early Monday morning to make it to the other side of the island to go to pearl harbor with some of the Monson crew.  We arrived right before it opened and headed straight to the ticket line to see the movie and take a boat ride out to the USS Arizona Memorial.  I was a little worried about this activity for the kids.  I knew I wanted them to experience it I just thought they would think it was boring and couldn't wait to leave.  I was wrong.  I loved that they played the movie about how the war all came about and about what we were going to be seeing.  The kids ate it up and could feel the reverence that belonged there.  I was a little sad we couldn't get out on the memorial, but they were doing construction on it and we just went by it on the boat and got to go down battleship row.  It was really fun to be there with the family and learn a little about our history.  After the boat tour we took off to walk around the area and learn a little bit more about WW2.  After Pearl Harbor we decided just our family to head to the Dole Pineapple plantation.  It was beautiful.  I couldn't wait to find the pineapple ice cream, and share it with the kids.  We walked around the ground and saw how pineapples grew and how long they took to grow.  We spotted some fresh pineapple and had to buy that with our Ice cream....SO GOOD.  I couldn't decided what I liked more the ice cream or the pineapple so I mixed them together.  The kids loved the Ice cream and we all left wanting more.  After we got back we headed to take some pictures by the North shore and do some shopping over that way.  We got some shaved Ice again and the kids felt like that needed to become a every day occurrence.  We headed home and of course hit up the beach for a evening swim and boogie board session.
