MLK weekend was a busy one. Although, this weekend was really hard for me and my extended family. a week before on a wednesday I got a call from my mom she said she had some terrible news to share with me. She let me know that my cousin Tausha's husband and taken a gun and killed my cousin Tausha her 5 kids and my Aunt Gail then turned the gun on himself. I was in shock and still am to this day. It shook me to the core. So many questions and feelings have run through my head and still do. Why? How? How come? Sadness, anger, confusion. I don't know much but I do know my testimony of the gospel and my beliefs. I know they are with my Uncle Boyd, and with so many family members on the other side. I know that they are all together and they are happy. I know one day we will be able to see them again. I know the savior and angels were and are with them. With that knowledge it does bring me peace and comfort. I will always treasure the memories I have of Tausha and my aunt Gail growing up and will hold to those memories and the good times until I can see them again. This story hit national news and we knew it would be crazy at the funeral, but we had no idea. They scheduled the funeral for the Friday of MLK weekend. There was no viewing and we were told the funeral would be at 10:00 but to come early. They had a big stake center and another church people could watch from. Around 8:00 we got a call saying the church was filling up and to get there asap to get a seat. We had planned to go early just not quiet that early. We hurried and dropped our little boys off at school and headed over. It was crazy with the news people and trying to find a parking spot. We were told over 900 people come to the funeral. They had all 7 of the caskets up front with the person's picture by the casket. The kids all spoke and had 5 minutes to share a gospel topic aunt gail had already told them about. They did wonderful and the songs were amazing. After the funeral we had to run up north. Saturday morning our niece Chloe was going to the temple for the first time. We wanted to be there to support her. I had never been to the jordan river temple before. It was beautiful and fun to see another temple. After the temple we took pictures and went to kneaders to eat. Then we headed back home to beat a storm that was coming, and also because I had a bad sinus cold. Sunday had stake conference and played games and make milkshakes. Monday we ended up going to Big Shot golf as a family and had a blast there. It was raining so it was the only thing we could think of to do besides bowling. After big shots we came home and played more games together. We love a new game we got for Christmas called "kill hitler". Its a fun one to play. We had a busy but great weekend surrounded with family. We are so blessed and know families can be together forever.
