State Tennis

All the girls Qualified for State this year.  We were all super excited.  They left Wednesday afternoon to head up.  I  was able to run over to the school to drop off some stuff, decorate their cars and see them off.  Dean and I took the boys the next morning early so we could watch the team play.  Emily our first singles won her match, Bria our second single won her match, and Delayne our third singles lost in 3 matches.  It was a hard fought game.  We were doing so well we've never had 2 girls make it to the next round (day) at state.  Our first Doubles team lost fairly fast and then we had to wait around for Addison and Ashlynn they were actually the second to last team called for the day so it was a long day for them.  They got called up about 3:15 and we started out.  Grandma and Grandpa Eves made it down from the monti to watch her and then Grandma Monson made it.  We also got Preston and Shaylee with Weston to come up from provo to Cottonwood High School to watch her.  We started out ok.  It was a little slow back and forth, but then we got in a grove and we were looking so good.  They ended up losing the first set 6-4.  So we new we needed the second set.  That's when we got in a grove. and  we really shined. We got up 5-1 and had such a good game.  Addison's serves were killer that day.  We ended up winning that set 6-2.  We headed into the 3rd set and crushed it quickly.  We got up 5-0 We just needed one more point. We had a call the other coach didn't like which caused our girls to be flustered.  A game that could have ended at like 4:30 went tell 6:30 every point was brutal.  Every other team and staff had left except our line judge and the lady at the scoring table.  It was getting dark and the other team had made a run and caught up .  Our doubles partner ashlyn couldn't get a serve in for the life of her she was in her head.  They both were and ended up losing 7-5 in  the second set.  It was so heartbreaking for these girls who had it in the bag.  All the team had stayed to cheer them on and we thought we had it. Preston and Shaylee were so upset with the others team coach for the yelling and cheers they about had a come apart.  But it was still impressive and fun to watch.  These girls had their best year yet and Addison ended up getting athlete of the week before she left for state.  She really improved her game this year and it was fun to watch her grow.  We ended up driving home that night and got home late.  Addison and the team stayed for the next day for their two girls.  Both had to play the number one seed in the state, and lost to them.  But it was the best showing we have had up at state since Tennis started at Hurricane.
