We got an opportunity to see the Napali coast from the national park hiking side. I was pretty excited for this day. We couldn't take our car into the park we had to be shuttled in so we got ready and headed down to our shuttle which was about a mile walk from our place or less. So we walked down since they didn't have parking at the shuttle stop. We road the shuttle for about an hour to get up to the national park. We decided to eat a lunch at the beach before we started our hike up to the private beach. We had packed sandwiches and chips and while we were eating we noticed a seal had decided to come to shore to rest. So Dean took the boys down to get a picture by it. The lifeguards on duty had put up some tape around it so we couldn't get to close but the boys thought that was pretty neat. After that we started in on our hike only for Addison to let us now she didn't pack good hiking shoes. This hike was muddy slippery, rocky and you needed shoes. She had some nice shoes but decided she didn't want to get them dirty so she did the hike barefoot. I felt so bad for her hiking 8 miles, but she did it and didn't complain mostly. We got some shade along the hike, and some wind when we were up against the cliff/ocean side, and then you had the trail of hot sun. We had a mix of everything. Everyone hiked in really well it was so beautiful to see the coast from this side of things. When we got down to the beach we of course couldn't get in because it is to dangerous on this beach but it was worth hiking to and just relaxing. They did have pool of water and streams to lay in and we spent about an hour or so just playing around in the area. The park closed by 6:00 so we knew we needed to be out because the last shuttle was going to take off around 5:00 to princeville. We headed back which was a bigger struggle for Addison her feet were starting to really hurt her and she was getting blisters. Dean stayed with her while the rest of us kept a good pace back. We didn't have to wait long for dad and Addison to make it back and we were off to Hanalei again to get some snow cones and catch our connecting shuttle. The line for the snow cones was so long, but they looked great. The weren't that great. Not enough flavor and the ice was to hard. Shaylee and Dean did like theirs though. After all that the shuttle brought us right back to our place so that was nice we didn't have to walk back. We had some costco chicken alfredo for dinner that night and the boys went for a walk to look at the golf course then came back and all watched a movie while Shaylee, Addison, and Shaylees friend chance went for a walk to take pictures. It was such a beautiful day.
