Kauai Day #1

Our family vacation to Kauai was finally here.  It was our last big family vacation with all of us together.  Our flight left around 10:30 or so on June 5th so we were able to sleep in our own beds and get up and go to Vegas.  We thought it would be a breeze considering we usually get up around 4:00 am.  So leaving by 7:00 felt doable.  Well, we did get up and are trying to get out the door.  Finishing packing the last of the things in the bed of the truck and we hear a lock on the truck go off.  All the doors are shut no one is inside and we are running about 10 minutes behind.  We had officially locked ourselves out of the truck because the keys were inside and we had no spare.  Dean might have started to freak out so I  tried to keep my cool.  I  told him to start calling locksmiths that could get here quick and I  called my mom to see if by chance they had a spare key to the truck we bought from them and they forgot to give to us.  She didn't think she did but told us to go over to her house and she knew right were she kept spare keys in her closet.  Shaylee and I  jumped in her care and ran over to grandma's while dean was trying to find a locksmith.  We got to her closet in the basket she told us to look and we didn't see one for the truck. I  went to put it up and shaylee saw something under another key and we realized it was a the key to the truck.  Our prayers were answered.  We called dean and cruzed home as fast as we could.  Everyone was waiting outside we headed on our way about a mile and realized Shaylee had just got her license redone and she only had a temporary license so we turned around for her old license to see if they would accept that one.  By this time we are about 40 minutes behind schedule and it decided to rain.  We were trying to make up time on the freeway and did pretty decent but knew we would need TSA to be pretty empty and the parking to just work out to help us out.  We got to vegas and ran as fast as we could. We ended up parked at the very back of the parking garage so we had to run for awhile and the elevators were packed so we ran up three flights of stairs with our bags.   We actually got through TSA fast until we got to Dean and they said his birthday was wrong from his ticket and his license so he had to stay behind and go to an office and see what we could do.  I  had all the kids and we tried waiting for Dean but realized our gate was on a shuttle and we were still cutting it close so i called Dean and told him we would meet him at the gate.  He was still in an office with TSA.  We got to our gate with time to spare...barley. We were able to go to the bathroom and fill up our water bottles, and they began to call for our flight.  I  started to panic because still no Dean.  They were at seating B and we were not tell D so we had some time.  Luckily he pulled up on section C and was able to board with us.  We were exhausted to say the least, but we were on the flight and ready to go.  We had a flight that had a layover in seattle washington for a couple hours so when we landed we got some lunch and a couple of us played a round of cards and were back on our way again.  The 4 hour time difference got us to Kauai around 7:00.  We got on our shuttle to pick up our car which was right by Costco.  The kids got some food why we shopped for some meals for the week.  Then we got on the road to our B&B in Princeville.  It was about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away from the airport.  We got to our place emptied the car and all crashed from a long day of travel.  We knew we had to get up early the next morning to drive back over to the other side of the island to go on our boating excursion of the napali coast.
