Kauai Day #6 Honolulu day #7 flights home Day #8

Kauai was so good to us.  I  will say our house didn't have air conditioning and no amount of those "coastal winds" helped around 12-7 during the day we kept the windows open as they told us to let the cool air in at night and the winds to keep it cool in the day, but some days it was rough.  We had a late flight out of Kauai so we had the whole day we had to kill.  We had to be out of our airBnB at 10:00 so we got a picture and headed on our way to some shops we wanted to grab some last minute souvenirs from.  While Preston was trying to find a shirt he liked earlier in the week the girls and I  got a couple yummy things to share for a breakfast/brunch.  We got a pineapple acai bowl and a frozen strawberry smoothie.  Both were delicious.  After we walked around town for a little we got back on the road and decided to play some mini golf at this cool course we saw earlier in the week.  We pulled in only to realize they aren't open on tuesdays or thursdays.  Hawaii definitely has crazy island time and days off.  So we bagged htat idea and went to another shopping area and farmers market we had seen.  Nothing to great there we got a couple bracelets for the boys and some necklaces for the girls.  We then were getting hungry so drove further toward the airport and got some lunch at taco bell and Dean adn Preston got lunch at Panda Express.  We then hung out in Target and Walmart for awhile and got some treats for the flight home.  We shopping at some local shops and ross.  We found a few things at Ross that came home with us.  We grabbed some ice cream for those who wanted it and then decided to turn in our car and head to the airport.  We did grab some dinner at costco since its right by where we turn in our vehicle.  We arrived at the airport and had a while to wait.  Delta had decided the night before to have a glitch in their system and we couldn't confirm our flights that night so the next day I  was worried about that it said they were colored when I  called just didn't have any assigned seating.  I  wanted to at least be by Landon and Brekcene so we had to try and figure that out while we were waiting gat the airport.  Landon broke a glass figurine at one of the gift shops so that was also fun.  We got on our flight around 9:00 and were so ready to take off and sleep.  Don't worry though that didn't happen.  On take off as we were getting in the air it was so shaky and very jerky we see these lights throughout windows and open our windows to our engine on fire.  The stewardess came on and said to stay in our seats and as soon as we hear from the captain they would let us know.  Well we were climbing higher we had straightened out and were still having a rough ride and fire.  finally about 5 minutes later the captain came on and said we had hit a flock of birds and it blew out engine on the left side so we were making an emergency landing in Honolulu.  The fire had put itself out but as precaution when we landed we had all the fire engines and everything come out to us and checking everything out before we could get up to the gate.  Whehn we unboarded that told us we all needed to sit tight and they were watiting to hear form Delta what to do next.  Well 3 hours later they finally confirmed ahtat we wouldn't be getting on another flight that night and that they had hotel and driving votchers we could use to find a place to stay.  We downoaded the driving voucher adn the ordered a car only to reallize it wouldn't hold al of us.  I told Preston we could all squish we were all exhausted and just wanted to get to our hotel we hjad just booked on wikiki.  It was a big mess when the driver pulled up and he wanted us to pay him more for the extra person (cash).  Anyway we ended up having to pay him completely out of our own pocket 60$ to get us to our hotel.  I  was not happy all the while they asked us to get on the line and take care of flights for our family.  So I  was also on the phone with Delta trying to get new flights home for our family and cancel the connecting flight for that morning we were going to miss.  It was a lot.  We got into our hotel room around 3:30 and asked for a later check out time of 11:00.  I  got off the phone with delta around 4 hoping everything worked out only to wake up in the morning to having some issues on the app.  So while we tired to figure out what to do for the day since our flights were not until 9:45 at night again we decided to walk through waikiki and find some shopping again.  We were all so tired and exhausted but didn't have anywhere to stay since we were done with our hotel.  So it was another long day of walking and waiting to go to the airport. We ate at the cheesecake factory for lunch and then went and found a brandy store for shaylee.  3 miles of walking later.  We again had to pay for 2 different ubers to get us to the airport our hotel was nice enough to hold our luggage so we didn't have to take it around with us all day so we went back and grabbed that and headed to the airport to wiat there. We grabbed some pizza at the airport with our meal vouchers Delta gave us and just waited.  It was going to be another long night again.  We would fly into LA and wait a few hours there for our connecting flight to Vegas.  We got on our plane and took off without a hitch.  I  don't think anyone slept more then an hour our so.  We landed in LA at 5:00 and our next flight wasn't until 7:00.  The kids got some breakfast with the meal vouchers and then I  tired to sleep in our seats while we waited.  Once we made it to Vegas we were all out.  I  tired to stay up to support Dean on the drive home but it was rough.  I  ended up falling asleep as well.  When we got home not even 2 minutes later I  look in landon's room at 11:00 in the morning and he is fast first on the ground sleeping he couldn't even make it to his bed after he unpacked the car.  Our bodies were wrecked.  We all tried to stay awake for most of the afternoon, but when we got to bed my body didn't even move tell 10:30 the next morning.  I  think that is the most I  have ever slept in.  The kids slept tell 11:30 when I   finally woke them up.  it was a long exhausting 2 days
