Summer Fun!! Splash pad/Zion!!

We had a weekend by ourselves, before we headed up to Bear Lake and Centerville for the 4th.  So we fit in somethings while we weren't as busy.  I took the kids to the park one day, then to the St. George splash pad another.  This was Breck's first time at the St. George splash pad, and he loved it.  He loved splashing and walking through the water.  He had so much fun just being free to play in the water.  Of course the kids made it a little hard for him to do that because they are all little mother hens and had to follow him around everywhere.  It was cloudy so it wasn't to hot, so we stayed for most of the morning and had a blast.  The next day we decided to invite some people and head up to Zion.  Quin Dani and Kai joined in on the fun.   While we waited for Uncle Quin's family we played on the grass at the lodge and down by the river we played in the water and tried our hand at skipping rocks.  Preston finally figured it out and got 4 once, but the girls and I just got one or two.  Oh well, we still had fun. We just did the lower emerald pools…next time when we have more time we will do the upper.  We saw 2 wild turkeys on our hike, and while we were on the shuttle we saw 2 deer.  So the kids got excited about those finds.  It was a beautiful day and great company.  We ended off Zion with a stop to our favorite sandwich and Ice cream shop, and headed home.

Golf Camp!!

This last week Preston had golf camp up at the Sky Mountain golf course here in Hurricane.  It was a 3 day camp and Preston really wish it went longer.  They started on Tuesday and went from 8-10.  He loves golf camp, because of course at the end of the camp they have a competition on a few things.  First off they did a chipping competition, then putting, and then they finish it off with a driving competition.  He loves to putt, so that was what he had his heart set on winning.  I came a little early to watch the end of it.  Preston saw me and ran over to let me know he had won his putting competition and won a new hat.  He was so excited I don't even think he cared about anything else.  He was sad for the camp to end, but excited to find out they gave them a free 5 rounds of golf punch pass with cart for him and an adult.  So Dean and Preston headed out early Saturday morning and fit in 9 holes.  They said they had a lot of fun, and I'm glad they got to do it together.

Florida Cousins

While we had the Monson cousins here tell Thursday morning.  We had my Brother and his family come in from Florida Wednesday night for a week.  We had Summer games that first weekend, but we still fit in as much family time as we could.  Thursday we swam, and then went to a Play at the Rattlin D playhouse.  It was a spoof  on Les Miserables.  It was quiet funny.  We went to one at Christmas that we all loved, so it was good to go back and watch another one of their plays.  They serve you dinner before the show, so it's a nice comfortable environment.  The next day was another swim day, and more soccer games for us plus a movie night.  Saturday we ended up going to the movies…some of us went to "How to Train your Dragon 2".  While other's went to Maleficent. Both got 2 thumbs up from both parties.  We then of course came back and did more swimming.  Sunday was Father's day so the women cooked the men BBQ ribs for Sunday dinner.  We ended up going to Doing the Children's Museum one day as well.  It was fun to see them for the little time they were here.  I even think Brecken warmed up to them toward the end (ha ha). We sure do miss them a lot.  They left Wednesday afternoon to head home.

Summer Games

Preston did the Summer Games again this year.  He played for his own U10 team then they asked him to play up with the U11 team as well.  So between the two teams we had 9 games in 4 days.  We started off Wednesday night with one game.  Followed by 3 more Thursday, followed by 3 more Friday.  Preston is a great player and has played a lot of defense with last year, because we realized this year we need a more defensive team.  Well the last couple of games at the summer games, coach let him go back up to forward, and he scored.  He was so excited.  We then Finished it off Saturday morning with 2 back to back games for bronze medals for both teams.  We ended up not getting a medal with either team, but Preston had a blast and enjoyed himself.  The weather was actually really pleasant as well.  So it was a lot of back and forth this last week, but so fun to see him enjoying playing.
