ThanksGiving Weekend

We headed up north Wednesday night for Thanksgiving with the Monson's.  The weather was supposed to be horrible on the way up so we were a little nervous, but it ended up not bad.  The kids were disappointed, because Grandpa and Grandma Monson's house was supposed to get snow, and it bypassed them.  We packed snow gear, and were planning on being out playing in it all day, but nothing came.  The girls and I got to help a lot with Thanksgiving since we were staying with Grandma, and we loved that.  The girls are at an age where they love to be in the kitchen, and helping.  We did the relish tray, helped set the table, made our place settings, and more.  Everyone else started to arrive around 12:30-1, and we started in on the feast.  It was so nice to see everyone and eat great food. After Lunch we all gathered around for the Monson talent show to begin.  I only got a picture of Preston.  He played the xylophone (Deck the halls), then the girls played the piano.  I got them on video so that's why no pictures.  Shaylee played Up on the house top, and Oh come all ye faithful.  Addison Played Silent night, and Rudolph's little brother.  They all did great.  After the talent show, that could have went on for hours…we did the nativity.  We didn't have enough kids, so Dean stepped in to help.  Then we moved onto the kids playing the bells.  They actually did a great job, and loved it.  Even Breck did it with the help of me of course.  After that we settled down for awhile, then people were getting ready to head out and do some black Friday shopping.  Dean and I had done most of ours the night before, but decided to go along to sports authority, because they were giving away 15$ to each person in line.  So dean and I had 30$ we could combined and ended up getting some great deals.  We then headed home for the night.  The weather was terrible, and so Windy.  The next morning we headed out to go Ice Skating (indoors the wind/weather was awful).  We've only been 4 times.  I've only done it for 10 minutes once.  So it was new to me, they let us bring our stroller on the ice so Brecken could skate around with us.  That was a blast, but he got cold.  Dean pushed him a little to fast I think and the breeze made him freeze.  After Ice skating we all met up at El Matador for some yummy Mexican food.  We then all went our separate ways.  We took Breck home and let him take a nap.  When he woke up from his nap we took him with us to go shopping.  We went to the mall so we let him see Santa.  He did just fine and told him he wanted Play dough for Christmas.  He was a little confused when we left without the Play dough.  So cute.  The next day we woke up and made our turkey's for breakfast.  Grandma wanted all the grandkids there to do it, so we waited tell the day after thanksgiving to do it.   The weather was horrible again, so we tried to find things to do inside.  We ended up going down to Lehi with Marie and Eric's family and letting the kids play indoor mini golf, rock climbing, and Laser tag.   It was a lot of fun, and glad we drove out of our way to do that.   We then had plans for a Jazz game that night. We left a little early and took our family out to eat.  Then we headed out to the Jazz game.  They played the Pelicans, and we had a lot of fun.  It was a fun game to watch, and the atmosphere is great.  We had a great vacation, it went by way to fast. We left the next morning which then decided to start snowing a little.   We sure love spending time with family.

Preston's 6th Science Project

Preston had a big science project due for his Science class.  They told the kids if they were doing it for their class they might as well enter it in the science fair.  Preston got busy deciding what he wanted to do.  He of course came up with a sports one.  He decided to check to see if a basketball went in the hoop more times with a backspin then without.  It was such a trial to get him to do this…(I say this with sarcasm).  He is outside more often then not and enjoys basketball a lot.  We recruited some people to help us come up with our statistics and went to work.  We had to shot 40 shots 20 with backspin, and 20 without.  He had a lot of fun putting this all together, and was really excited to turn it in.  He is such a hard worker, and finishes all his projects all by himself.  I rarely have to help Preston with anything.  He comes straight home and does all his work then goes off and plays.  He's a great son.

Basketball season has begun.

The kids all started Basketball these last couple weeks.  The girls are both on the same team, because its 3-4th graders.  Preston is on the 5-6th grade team.  The girls have done great…they are definitely good at defense, they stick to the girls like glue.  They both have scored a few baskets as well.  The look good out there.  Preston loves basketball, and he's good at it.  He is loving his team so far, and has scored plenty the first couple of games.  Dean is helping assistant coach Preston's and I think they are enjoying being together.

Soccer season Finally comes to an end!!

Yay, Soccer season is Finally over.  Preston played up until Nov, 21st.  Addison and Shaylee were both done Oct 31st.  Addison had a great season and has really loved playing soccer.  She loved being with friends on her team this year, and is a great Defensive player.  She also likes to play forward, and scored a few goals this season to lead the team to a winning season.  3-4th grade rec soccer.

Shaylee moved up to club soccer this year.  She was finally old enough.  Dean was their coach, and I helped were I could.  We had a great team this year, and so many good girls.  We only lost 1 game, and tied 2.  We won the rest.  We ended the season 3rd.  Which we will take in a heart beat.  Club is tough, and Hurricane really struggles getting enough girls to even play, but we were lucky enough to have to many, and having a lot of good girls.  The girls love Coach Dean, and Dean enjoyed them, he just wished he had some extra help.  We couldn't get anyone else to step in as assistant coach or to help out at practice, but hopefully by next spring that will change.  Shaylee had an awesome season, and is a natural as a forward, or mid position.  She was one of the top scorers on our team this year, and we loved watching her.

Preston's team had a tough year this year.  Losing some key players, and coach, and then another coach, but overall the boys never gave up and even though they were working with new players and coaches he played amazing.  He has been defender the last couple years, and is amazing there.  He also scored a few goals this year, when he got to move up to midfield a few times.  He loves all sports, and so we will have to see what he ends up sticking with.  We had a hard time pulling off football and soccer it was a couple crazy months.  Then basketball started these last couple weeks, which went into soccer as well.  He excited to just be playing one sport at a time for the winter season.

Preston's first ever Band concert

Preston had his first band concert.  They just showed all the parents all they have learned the first few months of school.  Preston is loving percussion.  He loves playing the drums, and xylophone, and loves the teacher too.  I wish this was a phase, because I don't know how I feel about having drums in my house.  I don't think it is though; I think we are in this for the long hall.  Great job Preston.
