Snow Days

Southern Utah saw snow 3 mornings in a weeks time.  The first two times it wasn't much and had melted by noon.  The kids and Dean were able to make a great snowman before it all melted though. The 3rd snow day we knew it was going to be big for us.  The schools were all put on a delay and it ended up snowing all night and day...not as much as they were thinking, but still a good amount.  Around 7:30 we were getting knocks from neighborhood kids to come play out in the snow and get pulled on tubes.  I had half the kids sick so the other half I let run outside and play.  School was delayed 2 hours, but kids would be excused all day if they couldn't make it in.  I had some that were sick anyway, and the rest stayed home and played.  The kids have loved the snow, but I'm always glad when it melts.  Oh, Landon is still not a fan of touching the snow.  He doesn't like cold anyway.

Shaylee 7th Grade Club Basketball

Shaylee's team ended the season undefeated.  Shaylee loved her coaches this year, and learned a lot.  She had confidence, and so much fun.  They went into the tournament undefeated, and won the tournament as well. Such a fun group of girls.

Valentines day 2019!

Valentines day this year was on a Thursday.  We had our annual Valentines dinner at home.  Dean brought home food from Chili's for us, and the kids got their traditional heart shaped pizza.  We missed Preston for the first part, because he had basketball practice, but he made it home to finish off the pizza.  We sure do love this crew.

The rest of the rooms

Preston moved into the girls old room, and the girls took over Breckens, and Preston's old rooms.  Since they are right by a bathroom the girls share that bathroom and Preston takes the other one.  Its actually worked out so well having the kids this way.  Especially having the little boys down stairs by Dean and I.  Preston's and Addison's room are still a work in progress, but we got them moved and that's what counts.

Landons first big ouch!!

We came home from Preston's last basketball game of the season, to this little guy cracking his chin open the exact same way Brecken did a few years ago.  He was sitting on our stools at the counter and started falling, his chin hit the counter on the way down.  He probably should have got stitches, but dean had some medical glue so we glued it and then butterflied it shut.  He was not a happy camper.  He hated getting this done.  Later that night we go in and check on him while he is sleeping and see he has torn off the butterfly. Little stinker.  Its healing nicely though and it's the perfect spot to hide a scar.

Tie Master

We have another Tie Master in the Monson household.  Brecken learned to tie his shoes towards the end of January and went to kindergarten and passed it off to his teacher.  I had to bribe him a little because he just never wore tie up shoes and didn't care.  We told him if he learned we would buy him a crystal making kit.  He had those shoes tied up that night.  So proud of him and all that he is learning and accomplishing this year.

New Beds, New Rooms.

A couple weeks before Christmas Dean had to go out of town for a work conference.  So the kids and I decided to switch rooms around and get some bunk beds for the little boys.  So I enlisted the help of my family.  Dad came with Sheetrock stuff to fix some dings, and a hole in the wall, mom and Stephanie helped move and clean furniture and move rooms around.  I sold the crib and moved Landon into a big boy bed.  He as just turned 2 a little over a month before. We got rid of the guest room since we hardly get any guests, and moved Brecken downstairs with Landon and made that their new room.  Preston moved his room into the girls old room, and the girls took over Brecken and Preston's rooms which have a bathroom in between to share.  Over all it's been great. The best part was Dean didn't have to do a single thing.  The kids are all taking care of their rooms, and it's nice to have the little boys downstairs where I can have easier access to them.  Landon did really well with the transition.  Of course we had some out of bed moments, but those got stopped quickly, as well as where is Landon moments.  Oh all the way asleep under the bed.   Him and Brecken are doing great and love their bunk beds.  The girls also asked for new room decor for Christmas so I need to get a picture of the older kids in their new rooms as well.
