CHAPTER 11: Glen Allan/ Sherwood park
WEATHER: 75-64 °F (last warm week in Canada
)

What's up everyone!!! My streak of sending emails every week really didn't last long. (They are more work than you think) but for the sake of my mom ill keep sending them. Anyways it was a good week here in Glen Allan!!!
Side Note: If you are old enough to understand the title than just know that that's what our ward of older people refers to us sisters as.

SERVICE:
This week we had so many service opportunities. On Tuesday we went to a huge site where they collect stuff to be moved to Africa. So us missionaries were in charge of playgrounds. There we're so many detached playgrounds that we were supposed to move and organize so they can eventually be shipped off. It was probably the most disgusting service project ive ever done. There were so many spiders and bugs but if you didnt look at what you were touching it was fine. On Tuesday we also stapled over 500 flyers to these bags for a huge food drive that is happening next week. And than as usual we attended the day home. In total we did 8 hours of service.
MINI ECHANGE:
I went on a mini exchange this week with Sister Miller. It was fun and we met some really cool people. Sister Miller is in the YSA here and so we were comparing the different areas we were in. She relayed that when she asks for people's number in her area they ask if she has snap chat. I relayed that with the people in my area we have to call all the old people, because they dont text and when we give them directions we have to make sure they have a pen and paper to write it down
its always kinda funny to see how different each area is. Anyway the real reason I'm including this is because I GOT TO DRIVE!!! It was my first time driving out in the mission and it felt like I was turning 16 all over again. As a new missionary I'm not technically supposed to drive until im out of training but they made an exception for me. Anyway dont worry I was a safe driver. (Send prayers for when I have to drive in the snow though...)

WEST ED MALL AND TEMPLE
My p-day got moved to tuesday this week because in my mission (depending on what area you are in) we get to go to the temple once a transfer. Anyway its crazy how small the Edmonton temple is but the spirit is still very strong. After our temple trip I got to go to West Ed mall!!! I love shopping so i was pretty excited to go. It was so crazy big. There were so many shops and just random things like an amusement park, water park, ice-skating rink, etc. I also got chipotle so that was a big win!!!
OTHER THINGS THAT HAPPENED:
○ Chinese classes were amazing! (And we got some of our Chinese friends at church!)
○ I chopped my hair (not on purpose)
○ Hugged a guy for the first time
○ Had 6 friends at church
○ Joined choir
○ Got called on to speak in a stake meeting (scary)
○ Ate some African food
○ Ate some meat from Mexico that has chocolate in it
○ Beat elders in pickleball
○ Made pumpkin cookies
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT:
Me and my comps were trying to find different ways of finding this week, so we made a poster for a family history event we had going on at our church on Saturday. The poster just asked "where are you from" and than we had people sign it. (Canada has very very very many diverse ethnicities) So we were in a store parking lot and saw a guy with his window down so we waved at him and had him sign our poster. He said he was from Africa and than we started talking about religion. He said hes read the bible and he likes the bible but he didnt really practice a religion and he wasnt sure if he believed in god. We asked him if he had ever heard of the BOM and he said no so we explained it for a bit and he asked where he could buy a copy. (Fast forward to earlier that morning... we had one more copy of a BOM and for some random reason i grabbed it earlier that morning off the counter and put it in my bag, which i had never done before) So we gave him a copy and than asked for his phone number. He said he didnt want to give us his number which we were pretty bummed out about. (Fast forward to earlier that morning i had written our phone number out on a ton of pass along cards- just in case) So I reached in my bag and gave him a card with our phone number on it. Usually when we give people our numbers they never call or text so we were thinking we did good at planting a seed and went about the rest of our day. A couple hours later we got a call from a random number, I answered and it was that same guy. He relayed that he was reading the BOM and LOVED it. He asked for one in Portuguese- which is his native language. And asked to meet up so we can help him learn about it! It was a crazy miracle. We were so blessed to have had a BOM. Its crazy to see that god is always putting people in your path that are ready to hear his message. If we look outside ourselfes we can find those that are ready. We can all be missionaries and help our brothers and sisters find their way back to our father in heaven.
Sorry for the extra long message, it was a busy week! I love you and miss you all! I love hearing from you so thanks for all the emails!
