CHAPTER 16: Gateway YSA/ Downtown Edmonton
WEATHER:

In all honesty im not really sure what happened this week but im sure it was all great things!
MEANING OF TITLE:
Since my area is YSA typically we try to find, meet, and talk to people who are YSA age. Obviously if we get a prompting we talk to anyone but that's typically our range of age we are looking for. This week I went up to some dude and asked him if he wanted a church tour. He said yes and so I was pretty excited. We met him this week and he brought his wife and 2 kids with him
I met another dude this week that i thought was YSA age as well. I invited him to church and he said he would have to ask his parents. I asked him how old he was and he was only 16
Nobody looks their age these days and i cant tell

EXCHANGES:
We had exchanges this week. My zone recently got moved into sherwood park zone (which was my last area) so the sherwood park sisters did exchanges with us. I wanted to go back to my old area but they made me stay here
so I led out the area and let's just say i had no clue where i was going or who i was talking to. Its fine though because you live and you learn

SERVICE:
For our weekly service we go to a homeless shelter and volunteer to make food. Edmonton (especially downtown in the city) has a lot of homeless people. Its getting pretty cold here and so they have lots of homeless shelters to try to help these people out. We have to go through lots of security to get to our service and there's so many people we cook for and serve. I like doing the service because the people that come in are so kind and grateful for any help they can get!
THINGS THAT I REMEMBER
○ Was supposed to have 7 friends at church and none of them decided to use their agency to come
○ Actually had a dinner this week
○ Played chair soccer at FHE and won
○ Drove in the city and did awful
○ Talked Chinese to some Chinese guy on the street (I was scared)
○ Hosted a dating night
○ It was Landons birthday and my dad's
○ I only got asked if i was related to the prophet 12 times this week!
○ Some homeless dude tried to break into our house
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT:
We have a friend this week that we taught who really was struggling with the concept of grace. He's the smartest person you will ever meet and has lots of the bible memorized and knows everything about our religon there is to know. He was pulling scriptures from the bible about grace and I was thinking oh no we're screwed. (This is my first time meeting the dude) im not sure why but after this dude pulls out this really good argument from the bible my comps all look at me like im going to have some really good rebuttal. There's an awkward moment of silence so I just start talking because I was hopping maybe something would come to me as I go. Almost instantly after I started talking a talk came to mind. I kinda ignored the prompting at first because I was sure this dude was very aware of all the resources our church has but the prompting kept coming. I said to him that I couldn't answer his questions very well but than I pointed him to the talk "his grace is sufficient" by Brad Wilcox. We ended the lesson there and I invited him to listen to it. After a couple days he texted us and shared how he greatly appreciated the talk and how he never saw things from that viewpoint before. I know that god gives us promptings for a reason! Don't be afraid to follow them! I also invite you all to listen to that talk this week! Its one of my favorites and im so grateful for the words of our church leaders to help answer questions and guide us through life.
I love and miss you all! Im so grateful for the emails, support and encouragement you all give me!
