Bee's and Family

When grandma got home from his summer house, we decided it was time to winterize the bee's and gather what honey we could for the winter and leave the rest for the bees.  Well a month or so ago I  noticed the bees weren't as active as they had been all summer I  mentioned it to my dad and he said its probably due to it getting cooler.  Anyway I  was worried something was wrong and I  voiced it to him.  Sure enough when we opened up the hive no bees came out to greet us.  But the Evil Wax moths did.  Wax moths were all over in the hive.  We were so sad.  They love eating the bees wax so you have to watch and treat for them, but they can still show up. There was so much good honey in the hive, but the bees had mostly fled or died due to the moths.  We ended up just burning it all.  I  was pretty sad since we had the best honey crop ever this summer.  Our Bees were finally producing honey solidly.  Sadly Grandma told grandpa he couldn't get another hive since he is only home half the year.  We shall see though I  think he will get another one.
Aslo, later that day Grandma Monson and Aunt Sydney came to stay with us for the night.  They were traveling through from their fall break.  They had the kids make Ghost mellows.  The kids loved them, and we enjoyed some good company for the evening.
