Our Annual Eves Gingerbread House Contest was held the Sunday before Christmas. We had a great turn out and even better Gingerbread houses. It was tough competition this year. We had 6 teams. team #1: Preston, Chloe, and Jaden. Team 2: Lisa and Devin. Team 3: Addison, Emily, Tynlee, and Brecken. Team 4: Laiklyn and Landon. Team 5: Grandma and Grandpa. and Team 6: Sam and Jessica. It was so fun to watch all the creativity come out. Some brought all their own decorations all ready to go and others used what they had in their kit or could find. Lisa and Devin opted for making theirs with graham crackers while the rest used premade ones, and Grandma and Grandpa used even a pre built one. They all had about 2 hours to work on it, and then they had to be done for judging. Steph and I were the judges this year and we came up with some great awards. We had hot chocolate and some pretzel rolos and watched some griswolds christmas while we waited for everyone to be done. A few key highlights. Jaden, Preston and Chloe team made a hot chocolate hot tub, Jess and sam had yellow snow and other questionable banana shaped artwork. Addison, Emily, Tyn, and Brecken made a village with 3 different houses. Grandma and Grandpa said they would be retiring this year. Lisa and Devin did a double decker gold flocked house. While Landon and Laiklyn had their first year of doing their house all on there own without adult help. Shaylee also built a house while on the mission her crew took on the twin towers complete with airplanes and everything. (its as awful as it sounds). I told her no no. I would say this year was a big success and everyone is getting this gingerbread house decorating down packed.
