The Mission

Preston Monson

Hey everyone it's been a little bit. I'm alive and well and hope everyone's doing alright! I'm still here in Ypacarai it's been awesome honestly a great experience! We had lots of miracles and I'm grateful for all of these experiences I've had. We have a few people on date for baptism. Rosa and Adsalon this Sunday and then the next Sunday Orlando, and his kids Yosue, and Irlanda. Orlando is awesome. He almost died about a year ago because a mom on a motorcycle with her two kids wasn't paying attention, and he decided to sacrifice himself and took him and his bike down. He's got a few things that will never work the same but he said that when he was there dying on the road that God told him he was going to preserve his life, so that he could help his kids on the path towards him. His wife had already left him alone with his two kids before this incident. Really humbling experiences. I cringed hearing this story thinking about the woman he loved and had a family with just leaving him. And then all the physical problems and pain he had due to being a hero and saving two lives. I'm happy we get to help him and his two kids be baptized and gain the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that is really the only thing that can bring us a true and eternal peace and comfort in this life. I know the Book of Mormon is true, when things are hard, this book brings me peace. I know all of my prayers are heard and he answers these prayers in his perfect time. Thought of the week in 3 Nephi 11 the first thing Christ does is proclaim who he is and then invite the people to touch the scars he bares and realize what he'd done. The sacrament came into my mind. As we can't physically touch him but we receive that opportunity to remember his atoning sacrifice and try our hardest to be better and repent. The sacrament has become something necessary for me. I love it. Anyways, love you all, thanks for all the prayers that are offered on my behalf and for all of the other missionaries out there. Till the next one! - Everyone's favorite, Elder Monson... ps I've been balling out in soccer, thinking about starting to record my games on pdays and send them to some teams to recruit me.

Ballroom at Utah Tech

Addison had her first ballroom performance at the Cox auditorium on Utah Tech campus.  They preformed one of their dances with some of Utah tech dances as well. She has worked hard and loves to dance especially ballroom.  She was so excited to make the team this year.

5th gradeVeterans Day Program

Since Veterans day is on a Saturday our school did a program during the week to honor our veterans. I  was able to make it for Breckens program and loved hearing all the old songs about our country.  They sang so good and had a slideshow of veterans that were related to any of the 5th grade kids.  It was a great program and Brecken sang his heart out.  I  love our country and those who fought to keep it free and safe.

Nov1-6th

Preston said it was a great week of many teaching moments and putting people on baptism.  They had many miracles that week.  Sunday rolled around and no one showed up for church.  They were so disappointed as they had invited so many to come.  This week he also showed us his feet and how bad he had fungus. (athletes foot, and ringworm).  It looked pretty bad.  He got on something for his feet and we were hoping that will help. but its so wet there and humid his feet never dry out.  We shall see.  He had leadership conference this week so they had to go and report numbers to everyone at the mission office.  They had 112 baptisms for the month of October.  They are trying for 1,000 for the year and think they will be hitting there goal.  The new companion and people in his zone wanted to go see the lake again so Preston took everyone to see the lake for their p day.  He really likes his new companion and people in his zone.

Basketball Season

Landon had his first basketball game this season.  Dean is his coach and he cant remember kids being this hard to coach in practice. lol.  He loses his voice from yelling over everyone.  Landon is a good little baller.  He has good dribbling skills and can use both hands.  He loves to steal the ball as soon as his player crosses the half court and try to take it down and score.  He is playing with 1st and second graders so he is one of the younger ones.  It's his first time having his dad as a coach and he loves it.
