Hey everyone! Elder Monson here. This is my last week at the MTC and I'm pretty happy about it. The spiritual experiences have been amazing and unforgettable here. But I'm very excited to go out and help people. Anyways, a little about my week since the last time we talked. More class, which my spanish seems good. I can write sentences, and get a point across. I love when my companion and I get to teach our teacher. The spirit is there, and we get to practice our Spanish on the spot. I know it's going to be hard in the field. But from what I've seen, I'm confident that my spanish will continue to grow. Also, I'm very grateful for the food here, I've eaten things I would never in my life eat. It has been good preparation for the field and I honestly think the food is going to be better in the field, or maybe I just hope that it will be.

Anyways, you know how much I love the spotlight on me, and the Monson last name and different colored eyes just weren't doing the trick anymore. So Saturday afternoon during workout time I decided to destroy my ankle playing Futsal. I hopped over to the infirmary with my companion and a few other people from my district. While waiting for help, I closed my eyes just trying to take deep breathes. And  everyone from my district stared freaking out and making heaving noises. So I open my eyes to see what was going on, and they were all pointing at my ankle freaking out. I looked down and got dizzy thinking that there was no way I was looking at my ankle. I was, it was the size of a balloon and getting bigger by the second. Finally the doctor came in and said to put ice on it while he called the doctor, and that I was going to have to go to the hospital to get x-rays, he thought it was broken. I said a prayer while icing it just pleading that it wasn't broken. Because quite frankly, all I'm going to be doing in Paraguay is walking. So I really needed my foot to be okay, or we were going to be in trouble. The guy came back in after what seemed like forever (10 minutes) looked at my ankle, and was in shock at how much the swelling had gone down. He sent a picture to the doctor, who then said he'd see me the next day, but that he didn't think it was broken anymore. They then put a boot on me and gave me a wheelchair. I felt so cool for about the first two hours in that thing. And then it sucked. I got a blessing from my district and I'm so glad for their willingness and worthiness to do that. The ankle doesnt look pretty, but its a miracle that im healing as fast as i am. Anyways, Sunday rolled around, I saw the doctor. He recommended I stay in the wheelchair but I told him it was okay. I'm stubborn and felt bad having my comp push me everywhere. He said to come back on Friday and we'll see what it's looking like so hopefully it's doing okay by then.

We had a devo Sunday night from Jeffery R. Holland. It was amazing. The way he expresses himself is amazing. He's blunt, no sugarcoating. With emotion, urgency, and some humor in him. He's awesome. He talked about Preach My Gospel. And how so so many people went out on missions and then became inactive or left the church. He then went on to explain how we as missionaries need to convert ourselves using that prayer, preach my gospel, and book of Mormon. It was amazing to listen too. He then also talked about how we're people, when people are struggling or having a hard time, have compassion and help them. Don't be a robot and just dive into a lesson. Let the spirit guide you and open your mouth. Love Jeffery R. Holland and the message that was shared.

Monday was classes and food. But I got to actually talk to my buddy Payton for a few minutes and it was really nice and a blessing for me. Sorry, Elder Wheeler. Elder Wheeler is awesome. Just talking to him I realized we were the same, but different. He still had his good looks, interests of ufc, humor, and love for things back home. But I could tell that him and I were on another level spiritually from the times back home. He's going to be an awesome missionary, I felt his spirit and know he's a worthy, dedicated man. Shout out to all my friends back home. Whether in the field or college, they have always been good kids and examples for me.

Tuesday, classes and food. Devo Tuesday night from the mtc president and his wife. It was awesome. They spoke of the Book of Mormon. Can I just say I went from being bored out of my mind while reading that thing to it becoming the best book of all time. I pray with intent to understand and get something from reading, I read, highlight, pray some more. I would be home already if not for this book, the spirit, and priesthood. The BOM has given me comfort, revelation, and spiritual experiences. Through prayer, the Book of Mormon, and my awesome district helping and giving me blessings. I've been in a good place. I'm ready to go serve. I know it's going to be hard. But with the Book of Mormon and holy ghost we can do anything, and I know that. I invite all of you to prayerfully study. I read a talk by Thomas S. Monson in the April 2017 conference. It was on the Book of Mormon. He said "My dear associates in the work of the Lord, I implore each of us to prayerfully study and ponder the Book of Mormon each day. As we do so, we will be in a position to hear the voice of the Spirit, to resist temptation, to overcome doubt and fear, and to receive heaven’s help in our lives. I so testify with all my heart in the name of Jesus Christ, amen." I've seen this in my life. Life is hard, sometimes stupid things happen like destroying your ankle a week before headed into the field. But with prayer, the Holy Ghost, and the Book of Mormon. I receive comfort and confidence that I can do anything. So anyways, if you've actually bothered reading all the way through this essay. I invite you to read it, everyday, and pray. You'll know it's true, which means Joseph Smith was a true prophet, which means this church is true. Sorry for typing so much, I just had a lot of stuff this week. It's been good, Elder Monson is thriving, besides his foot, and taste buds.

Other notable events:
I got to see my buddy Elder Bunn's girlfriend and say hi. We took a picture but it's on her phone.

Elder Esplin and his companion gave me an 8 minute voice message of advice for the field and it was awesome.

Also today August 24th is my sister's birthday. HAPPY BDAY! It's weird that you're almost an adult, I still don't think I'm an adult and have to remind myself that I am indeed of that age. Hopefully you get what you want, like makeup and shoes and stuff.

While on the topic of Shaylee, my dad informed me that some random goon from Dixie asked her to a dance. This is not acceptable. I'm calling on all people who read this to help me out and beat this kid up. Matthew is alright, I trust him. As far as anyone else, unless approved by my dad and mom and Justin/Biff. I'm afraid you are just the worst. So, Trey, Hollis, Joey, Scoot.. for a hot minute, till Sunday.  please go see how you can help out with this situation as well as any family members!

I think that's all. Until next week where I will be in Paraguay trying to figure everything out.
Everyone's favorite,
Elder Preston Dean Monson  over and out.
