8/5-8/12 2025

Shaylee's p-day got pushed back to Tuesday this week, because they were able to go to the alberta Temple on Tuesday.  Temples aren't open on Monday so they pushed there p-day back to tuesday so they could use that day to go.  This week was a good week for the trio.  They had a baptism of their friend Saul.  Brecken likes to joke that he will now change his name to Paul.  Shaylee said she only got to sit in on a few of his lesson, but he just soaked up the lessons and the gospel and had no doubt he wanted to be baptised.  Shaylee got to be the one to invite him to be baptised and he accepted.  Shaylee said they knocked on a few doors this week and made some calls and when no one would answer they would say to each other.  One more time.  one more time for Jesus. So that is there little quote they go by.  Shaylee also told us to listen to a april 2018 general conference talk titled " I am a child of God". It was a great talk and I  love hearing her thoughts on it.  With that I'll leave you with her email for the week.

CHAPTER 5: Glen Allan/ Sherwood Park
WEATHER UPDATE: It was actually rainy and cold most of the week so our weather ranged between 59 - 71... Its only August 😭

What's up guys! My P-day is on Tuesday this week because we had the amazing opportunity to go to the Edmonton temple this morning!!!!!! By far the smallest temple ive ever seen or been to😭😂 I guess im used to being surrounded by huge temples everywhere in Utah but the Edmonton temple is so small. It was still amazing though!!! Something that is super big in Canada is that you take your shoes off in every single house you go in. (Which i know that seems like proper manners but you do it literally everywhere) this includes the temple. When you walk into the temple there's a place you take off your shoes, and than you continue to walk through the temple with just socks on.

We did tons of service this week! A huge thing in canada is something called the indigenous games- which is basically just a huge sports tournament kinda like summer games where were from. Anyway we score-kept for basketball for 4 hours! It was great! I loved watching basketball!!! Yesterday we were supposed to help with flag football but something went down with that so instead we had the "opportunity" to fold tee shirts and put lids on water bottles for 4 hours!!! Lucky us.... haha in the end it wasn't that bad but it was longgg.

SAUL GOT BAPTIZED!!!! 🥳🙌 Saul got Baptized on Saturday and it was honestly one of the most amazing experiences ever!!! Our ward was so supportive and we had a great turn out! Me and my comps spent all week practicing how to sing "i am a child of God" in spanish to surprise him. We sung one verse in English and than one verse in spanish and the spirit was so strong and he loved it!!! Saul is such a beautiful example of christ-like love. Hearing his testimony has strengthened mine so much!

Extra things that happened this week:
- I tried poutine for the first time
- One day I had 4 total scoops of icecream
- We were able to give Danyhal a BOM before she left for India
- I had my first bash session with Sister Ballard with a guy we met on the street and it was lowkey GREAT!
- Our friend Andrew had a list of questions he asked us during a lesson and I didn't even know about half the stuff he was saying but that's what members are for when they come to your lessons I guess. My answer to his questions would have just been "pray about it" so good thing brother butler was there.
- We got permission to go to Chipotle!!
- I spoke in church on sunday and made an announcement that I was indeed related to the prophet so now nobody has to ask me anymore!
- ive had the chance to meet alot of mandarin people here and ive also been able to talk to some of them so shoutout to my mom for putting me in mandarin when I was young

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT:
During Saul's baptism we had the opportunity to listen to him bare his testimony. It was honestly one of the most raw beautiful testimonies I ever heard. One thing I loved in his testimony was a statement he said when he first started speaking. He said "my English pronunciation might not be 100% but my love for jesus christ is 100% and that's all that matters". I think that's such a simple yet powerful phrase. I would add to that that jesus christs love for us is always 100% as well. We all make mistakes, we've all sinned, we're never going to be perfect, but his love for us will never falter. And that is one of the most powerful truths I posses.

Anyway i love and miss you all! Thanks for all the emails!!!❤️🤍
